I want to make a bequest to Kutztown University. Do I need to contact the University first?
In order make certain that the University understands how you want your bequest used, it is important for you to talk with a university development officer. We can discuss exactly how the program/s important to you will benefit from your gift.
Can you tell me the tax benefits of different kinds of gifts?
We will be happy to discuss different ways of making a gift to help you find one that right for you. But we ask you to consult with your own accountant or attorney for definitive tax advice.
What is an "endowed scholarship?"
An endowed scholarship is a permanent scholarship. The gift is not spent, but invested. A portion of the annual income - usually 5% - is used to fund the scholarship. The rest of the income is added to the principal so the scholarship grows each year. (See Scholarships)
A classmate of mine belongs to the Old Main Society. What is that and how can I join?
The Old Main Society recognizes those alumni and friends of the University who have remembered Kutztown University in their will or who have made another type of planned gift. (See "Joining the Old Main Society")
