MISSION STATEMENT

Established February 3, 2005, KU’s GLBTQ Resource Center seeks to be the regional center for resources which create and support environments whereby the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, inter-sex and questioning students, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni have access, inclusion, recognition, equality and respect in all facets of higher education.

 
PURPOSE

1.)  Provide a safe network and to advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning (GLBTQ) and Allies who are students, staff or faculty of Kutztown University.

2.) Educate students, staff and faculty of Kutztown University about discrimination and the oppression of GLBTQ individuals.

3.) Increase awareness and acceptance of GLBTQ persons and issues and to create and insure cooperation and unity among the Kutztown University community.

 

GOALS


(Achievement of this mission is advanced through five major goals.)

 

Goal 1:  Provide support to colleagues serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex communities in higher education.

 

Goal 2:  Consult with higher education administrators in the interest of improving campus climate and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex faculty, staff, students, administrators, and alumni/ae.

 

Goal 3:  Advocate for institutional policy changes and program developments that recognize and meet the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex persons.

 

Goal 4:  Provide leadership to the campus and broader community through educational awareness, information distribution, programs, services, and activities regarding sexuality issues.

 

Goal 5:  Maintain a safe space environment to nurture and support student leadership development and campus activities to reduce homophobia,  hetersexism, biphohbia, transphobia, heterosexual and gender straight  privilege in themselves and  others.
