Welcome to Kutztown University's Telephone Services
Rates, Balances, and Directory
The university switched from a Centrex environment to a PBX in 1984.
In 1985 residence hall telephones were added to the PBX. We have over 2500
extensions on campus; 1450 extensions are located in the residence halls.
Voice mail was made available to staff members in 1990 and to students
in 1998. In addition to personal voice mailboxes for staff and students,
we have numerous automated attendants set up giving callers various options
and bits of information. For example, you can request an application through
the admissions office auto-attend, listen to job vacancies through the
Career Services auto-attend, listen to the schedule and order tickets through
the Cultural Affairs office, and listen to the schedule for the Sharadin
Art Gallery exhibits.

Telephone Services
Responsibility of the telephone service office includes:
All residence hall rooms are equipped with a telephone jack and dial tone. Students must furnish their own telephones. Telephones must be true touch-tone. There is one jack per room, and the students in that room all share the same telephone number.
Students are not able make long distance calls from
their rooms. In order to make a long distance call
a prepaid calling card or a commercial credit card needs
to be used. If obtaining a commercial credit card, it may NOT be charged against any university telephone numbers. It must be charged against the students' home number.
