Burning CDs with Windows XP or Roxio Insert CD. When
screen appears to ask what you want to do: USING ROXIO: 1. When the program opens, click Make a Data CD, then DataCD Project. 2. In the top pane, find the files or folders you wish to copy to the CD. Use the field under Select Source Files to find your files. 3. Select the files or folders to be copied (use CTRL or SHIFT to highlight more than one file or folder), then click ADD in the middle of the screen. 4. The Status bar at the bottom tells you how much space you are taking up on the CD. 5. When ready to record, click the red Record button in the middle of the screen. 6. On the next screen, click Start Recording. Click OK when done recording. Click Yes or No to saving the data project and then close the program. Or If you do not want to use Roxio, click Cancel. WITHOUT USING ROXIO: 1. Go to a folder and highlight files or folders you wish to copy to the CD. Click Edit, Copy. 2. Go to My Computer and double click on the CD drive. 3. Click Edit, Paste. The files or folders will show up with a down arrow on them. 4. On the left pane, click Write these files to CD. Give the CD a Name and click Next. 5. When the files are done being written, the CD will eject, then click Finish. When the CD is reinserted, the files will be on the disk. To ERASE: Once files are on the CD, you cannot delete just one file or folder at a time. You can recopy to update a file or folder, but cannot delete just one file or folder. The CD can just be completely erased. 1. Insert CD to be erased. Click OK to Open the folder to view the contents of the CD. 2. On the left pane, click on Erase this CD-RW. Click Next, then when it’s done erasing, click Finish. 3. The CD is now ready to have files written to it again.
