Creating a Publication in Publisher 2003
To Create a Publisher file:
Click an option on the New Publication
Task Pane

Publications for Print
are Flyers, Brochures, Business Cards, etc.
·
Web Sites and E-mail
help you create a web page or customized email
·
Design Sets
are customized Stationery, holiday ideas, etc.
·
Blank Publications
to create your own ideas
Once you have selected a design, the task
pane will change and prompt you with some helpful ways to customize the
design for what you want.
Customizing Objects on the Publication
Text boxes:
To Create a Text Box
Click Insert, Text Box or the
Text Box icon
on the
Objects toolbar.
Click and drag the mouse pointer in your
publication to create the box.
You can now enter text in the box and/or
change the format of the box.
To Change Text
already in a text box, just click in the text and make changes.
To Format a Text Box
Click on the box to select it.
Click Format, Text Box
You can now change the outline, background
color, outline color, size and layout
Tables:
To Create a Table
Click Table, Insert, Table
or the Table icon
on the
Objects toolbar.
Click and drag the mouse pointer in your
publication to create the table.
You will be asked how many rows, columns,
and style for the table.
You can now enter text in the table.
To make changes to the table, use the
Table menu to add/delete rows and columns or format the table.
WordArt:
To Create WordArt
Click Insert, Picture,
WordArt or the WordArt icon
on the
Objects toolbar.
Choose a style for the WordArt. Click
Ok.
Type your text and change the font and/or
font size. Click Ok.
Once the text shows up, you can now format
it.
Pictures:
To insert Pictures
Click Insert, Picture, and
make a selection from the menu or
click the Picture Frame icon
on the
Objects toolbar.
Choose your picture. Click Ok.
To Format a Text Box, Picture, Object, or
Autoshape

Click on the item to select
it.
·
Click and drag the handles
that are around the item to resize it.
·
Click on the item and drag it
to move it.
·
Or Click on Format, and then
the item you have selected.
To
Layer Objects
Select
the object, then click on the Order icon
on the
standard toolbar, or right click the mouse on the object and select
Order.
Choose
the order for the object.
This
allows you to place an object in front of or behind another.
To
Rotate Objects
Select
the object. If it can be rotated, there will be a round green handle at the
top of the object, or click on the Rotate icon
on the
standard toolbar.
Move
mouse on top of the green handle.
Click
and drag the mouse to the left or right to begin rotation.
Let go of the
mouse button when done.
