Software FAQ's - Installing Putty

 

1. Open My Computer and click on the C: drive 2 times.

2. Click File, then New, then Folder and name it Putty.

3. Download putty from here and save putty to the folder you just created.

4. Open putty, it should look like this:

 

5. Under Host Name type login.kutztown.edu and choose SSH as the Protocol.

6. On the left is SSH, click this, and under Preferred SSH Protocol version: choose 2 only.

7. On the left, click Session again.

8. Under Saved Sessions type the word login and click the button Save. Your screen should now look like this:

9. Click open -- a box such as the one below should appear -- Say YES to this alert box.

10. Enter your username and password.

11. To exit putty, type logoff or exit

12. To create a shortcut to your desktop, open My Computer, click on C:, then click on Putty.

13. Right click on Putty, choose Send To then Desktop (Create Shortcut)
