How does it work?

It works by Students/Faculty/Staff putting money into their Bear Bucks online, or in the Bursars Office. They can do this with Credit Card, Debit Card, Check, or Cash. The Valid KU Card can then be used any of the fine locations on and off campus using a Verifone credit card terminal. We find that this opens up the variety and convenience for the ID holder, as well as providing another form of income for the merchant.

Who can use Bear Bucks?

Any valid Kutztown University ID card holder can sign up for Bear Bucks. We currently have over 2700 active Bear Bucks users, and the plan is growing everyday.

What does the merchant need to do?

Once you feel this plan is good for you, you can contact the One Card Office and we will take you through the proper steps in getting established with Bear Bucks at your location. What support will a merchant have?

Every signed merchant has 24/7 support with technical issues. Also, when the equipment is being configured the merchant and its operators will be trained

What type of equipment can be used?

The equipment that is compatible with Kutztown Universities Bear Bucks is as followed:

Verifone 330(this reader will only hold one type of programming, Bear Bucks)

Verifone 380x2(this reader is recommended because it allows 2 styles of programming Bear Bucks, and Credit Card/Debit)

We will provide you with dealers that sell these units, unless you currently have a Verifone that you do not use and it is one of these models. We can then program that unit to work with our system. To configure a new or used reader there is a $250.00 setup fee.
