1. The Center houses, maintains and circulates an instructional media collection consisting of the following formats:
- audio CD's
- VHS videotapes
- DVD's
- audio tapes
- computer software
- SMPs

Also, we are an affiliate lending facility (all patrons) for National Gallery of Art productions. All materials are housed in a close-stack area. Patrons present the call number(s) of the title(s) they are interested in (see Rohrbach Library Catalog the KU online public access) to the circulation desk attendant. The attendant will retrieve the item and setup any necessary equipment. Preview and listening facilities are available for our in-house service clientele.

  1. The AV Center houses, maintains and circulates audiovisual equipment to accommodate auxiliary needs of the University community: KU students, faculty and staff. Patrons may borrow equipment from the AV Center in person or arrange to have equipment delivered by completing an equipment request form.
  2. The AV Center houses a microcomputer lab. All workstations are Apple Macintosh and offer word processing, spreadsheet and database applications as well as Internet connectivity.

Currently, there is no charge for basic laser printer paper consumption, however we restrict Internet and other database usage to a printers that utilize recycled paper. There is a charge ($1.00) for color laser printer transparencies and hard copy. The AV Center houses a number of scanners and "Getting Started" user-support handouts are available.
  3. The Center offers a lamination service on Tuesday and Thursday to KU students, faculty and staff only. Work received by 1:00 p.m. may be collected after 3:00 p.m.
  4. Production facilities include an Ellison die-cut machine, cutting boards, digital cameras, digital camcorders, scanners, iMac computers with writable DVD-ROM drives, and a poster printer.
  5. Also, there is a Videotape/DVD Transfer Station. This equipment will take the video from a VHS or mini DV tape and transfer this data, in real time, to a blank DVD. Real time refers to the amount of time required to complete the process; hence a two-hour video will require a two-hour transfer time. Copyrighted material must have the permission of the owner before dubbing can take place.

We require all KU student patrons to present a validated ID and to complete, each semester, the policy form below. This form is repeated in the KEY and delineates student's borrowing privileges and responsibilities.

STUDENT LENDING AND OVERDUE POLICY

I understand that materials of the Rohrbach Library Audiovisual Center may be loaned for a period of one week, and that the loan may be renewed for a period of one week. AV equipment may be loaned only overnight. Renewal of the lending privilege is not extended on equipment. KU students are required to present a driver's license or ID with picture and signature (passport) in addition to a KU student ID, in order to borrow laptops, data projectors, and digital cameras from the AV Center.

I understand the overdue fine system of the AV Center is as follows:

Equipment $2.00 per day, per item. Equipment that is returned with parts missing are unable to circulate. Daily fees will continue to accrue until all parts are returned.

Materials returned more than seven days after the due date will be assessed a late fee of $7 per item plus a late fee of $1 a day, per item for the eighth and each subsequent overdue day.

Damaged and lost AV equipment and materials shall be paid for at a price to be determined by the Audiovisual Center. An outstanding obligation with the AV Center will result in the immediate suspension of all AV Center privileges and the sealing of student records.

Fines and Fees can be paid for with Bear Bucks or with the exact amount in currency, (AV Staff cannot make change). Personal checks made out to Kutztown University are also acceptable.
