The large collection of this center includes books, DVDs, and magazines such as
The Advocate, Bitch, Curve, Out, Rainbow Review, Valley Gay Press, and
Philly Gay News. The Resource Center offers a
searchable book catalog as well as a
searchable DVD catalog online.
This resource library houses a collection of books, films, and CDs that represent many cultural groups and themes.
Its non-fiction materials help students explore
other cultures; fictional materials for entertainment purposes emphasize multiculturalism.
Reference materials and
guides are also available. Books are loaned for a two-week period, and CDs for one week. Resource materials, videos and game systems must be used in the Center.
The Multicultural Center is on South Campus near the north end of the DMZ. It is behind Rothermel Hall next to Schuylkill Hall, and is accessible by vehicle via South Campus Drive.
Books, videos and magazines are cataloged according to topic and are loaned for a period of two weeks; many are listed here. Magazines available include Ms., Mother Jones, and Women in the Arts. Pamphlets, newsletters, and resource files are also available; topics include addictions, affirmative action, African womanism, AIDS, art, breast cancer, domestic violence, education, the ERA, feminism, gay and lesbian issues, gender studies, literature and women, mental health, the National Organization for Women (NOW), pornography, pregnancy, rape, religion, safe sex, sex discrimination, sports equity, the suffrage movement, violence against women, women in government, Women's Centers, women of color, women's health and more.
