Introduction

The best place to find article is by using the library's eletronic databases.  These databases allow you to access thousands of magazine, journal, and newspaper articles via the Internet.  You must be a registered student to access the library's databases.

General Databases

  • Academic Search Premier. Excellent multidisciplinary resource. Includes 3,000+ titles with almost half in full-text format. Includes a mix of popular and scholarly titles. Includes a lot of titles in PDF format.
  • ProQUEST Periodical Collections. Excellent multidisciplinary resource. Periodical Abstracts Research II comprises abstracts and indexing for articles in more than 2,190 periodicals, many in full-text.
  • Digital Dissertations. Citations and abstracts for doctoral dissertations since 1861 and master's theses since 1988. Complete database available only on campus.
  • ERIC. Citations and abstracts from over 980 educational-related journals, as well as full text of more than 2,200 digests from the U.S. Department of Education Resource Information Center database.
  • JSTOR. JSTOR offers full-text journal coverage in the social sciences and humanities. Examples of disciplines covered are: history, economics, Asian studies, classics, archaeology. African, Latin American, Slavic, Middle Eastern studies, the literary cultures of many different countries. The lag time in publication ranges from 3 and 5 years. Updated in an ongoing basis.

Subject Specific Databases

  • Georef. Produced by the American Geological Institute, GeoRef contains over 2.2 million records covering subjects such as mineralogy and crystallography, general mineralogy, mineralogy of silicates, and mineralogy of non-silicates. It includes journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, and theses. Updated bi-monthly.
    Coverage 1785 to the present.
  • Geobib. Provides bibliographical references to books, periodical articles, pamphlets, government documents, maps and atlases in the American Geographical Society Collection of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Indexing uses the AGSC Research Catalog Subjects. Corresponds to the print index Current Geographical Publications.

  • Nationalatlas. Nationalatlas.gov is the single best Federal source for national maps and geographic information on the Web. Map categories include agriculture, biology, boundaries, climate, environment, geology, government, history, mapping, people, transportation, and water. Features printable maps, geographical articles, and a dynamic map maker that allows users to create custom maps.
  • The ScienceDirect College Edition offers access to large amounts of high-quality, peer-reviewed journal articles online, complemented by authoritative reference works. These journal and reference works are exclusive to ScienceDirect and not available anywhere else online. The Rohrbach Library subscribes to two ScienceDirect journal collections: Health & Life Sciences Journals Collection containing 900 full-text peer reviewed journals and Physical Sciences Journals Collection containing 600 full-text peer reviewed journals. To search only the full text articles, change All Journals to Subscribed Journals in the Source search box. Print Journal Subscriptions

The library subscribes to a number of print journals for health research. All journals are housed in the Periodical area on the 2nd Floor. See the Periodicals Department for assistance.
