Then: Click in the box below and copy the new URL. This link will enable any member of the KU community to access the item, even when s/he is off campus.

Your link should bring readers on the KU campus directly to the item. If off campus, they will pass through the authentication screen; upon successful login, the reader will have full access to the item.

Long URLs can "break" in some email clients.  Using a link shortener will prevent this.
