Please join the Undergraduate Admission Office in welcoming 57 students from George Washington High School and Bucks County Technical High School on Monday, April 7. These students will spend the day on campus learning about Kutztown University and post-secondary education.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) invites the university community to enjoy the performance of the Mercy Learning Center Bell Choir at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 8 in 218 Beekey.  This "standing room only" performance will inspire and refresh your love of teaching.

Perforum, KU's Performing Arts Group, will be meeting on Tuesday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to noon in 106 Rickenbach Learning Center. If you are interested in our upcoming trip to Broadway to see "Gypsy," please come join the club. Dates and ticket prices will be revealed at the meeting, and the meeting will be followed by theatre games and improvisational exercises. All students and faculty interested in performance, spoken word, poetry slams, reader's theatre, performance art, multicultural performance, etc., are encouraged to attend.

Asian Celebration

East meets West with the Multicultural Center's Annual Asian Heritage Festival on Thursday, April 10. This year's celebration will feature live traditional music and a variety folk and classical dances from India and Indonesia, henna demonstrations, and food flavors of Indonesia. Come and  enjoy the performers while you are sampling the Indonesian delights. Join us from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the McFarland Student Union.

Catering: Policies and Procedures

Event Planning and Scheduling: Once a campus facility has been reserved, we request that you contact our catering office at least two weeks prior to your event to develop a menu. A guaranteed count is required 72 hours prior to your event. Final billing is based on the guaranteed count, or, should attendance exceed the guaranteed count, the actual number of guests served.

Cancellations: In the event of cancellation, we request a 72 hour notice prior to the event. If cancellations are made after the deadline, your group will be responsible for all costs incurred prior to cancellation.

The 27th Annual Kutztown University Job Fair for Educators is being held Wednesday, April 9, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Fogelsville/Breinigsville, Pa., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. School districts from numerous states will be recruiting education seniors and alumni. The job fair is open to the public and there is no pre-registration for candidates; a resume will be collected at the door. There is a $5 admission fee for all non-Kutztown university students and alumni.

A workshop on "Writing Your Resume and Cover Letter" will be held on Tuesday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in 250 McFarland Student Union. What is the best way to arrange your resume and cover letter on the pages? Which words create the best effect? Which topics should appear, and which ones shouldn’t? Find out the key parts of a well-written cover letter, including the “grab-their-attention” middle paragraph. These presentations discuss length, kinds of paper, general do’s and don’ts, and the different types and styles. Learn when and how to send these key marketing materials to obtain that interview. Presented by Career Services.

The Department of Physical Sciences will host a seminar in biochemistry and chemistry on Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. in 260 Boehm. Dr. Jebrell Glover, from the Department of Chemistry at Lehigh University, will present his research on the biochemistry of membrane proteins. The talk is entitled, "Interactions of Caveolin transmembrane domains with phospholipid bicelles: implications for biomedical diseases." All are welcome.

One of the two Chambliss Faculty Research Award addresses for 2007 - 2008 will be presented at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Boehm 261. The title of the talk is “The Dinosaur Shake Rattle and Roll” by Dr. Edward Simpson, department of physical sciences. The talk will highlight recent work in southern Utah during the Cretaceous - time of the dinosaurs. Highlighted will be our reconstruction of earthquakes and possible epicenters that shook, rattled and rolled these giants of the past.

Performances of "Little Shop of Horrors," by the Department of Speech Communication & Theatre and the Department of Music, will be April 8 to April 12 at 8 p.m., with matinees at 2 p.m. on April 12 and April 13, at Rickenbach Theatre in the Learning Center. Tickets are $10 in advance for students, or $15 cash for everyone at the door. ''Little Shop of Horrors,'' with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and music by Alan Menken, was originally produced by the WPA Theatre at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City. Drawn from a low-budget 1960 horror movie by Roger Corman, with a screenplay by Charles Griffith, it is a Faustian musical about a timid clerk who sells his soul to a man-eating cactus.

REALITY CHECK AHEAD 08 Tour on Campus

On Tuesday, April 8, the A.W.A.R.E. III ™ SIMULATOR will be on campus on the McFarland Student Union lawn area from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The DUI/DWI simulator is designed to realistically show participants the dangers of drinking and driving.  You will have an opportunity to wear panoramic virtual reality goggles and experience a computer-controlled road conditions while sitting in a stationary vehicle. Stop by and check out the tour! If you have any questions please contact Frances Cortez Funk at 610-683-4240, or cortez@kutztown.edu.
