What are you going to do after you graduate? Some of us know exactly what we want to do, others are still searching. Come share your thoughts and experiences in a discussion of life after graduation. All members of the KU community are welcome.

Performance Art: James Weiss and the Brooklyn band Rahu-Ketu will be performing "Cartography" on Wednesday, April 30, at 8:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room. This collaboration between storyteller James Weiss and the Brooklyn rock 'n' roll ensemble Rahu Ketu interweaves image/music/text. Projected videos help to map the story of travel in the early 21st century. Layered instrumental music intersects with stories about time travelers, African street preachers, and a guy building an ark in Ohio. This is a show for everyone (kid friendly) and particularly for students of theater, creative writing, and visual art. There is a reception for the artists at Eckhaus following the performance. $5 donation; sponsored by Eckhaus (a student-run art gallery at 157 W. Main Street)  Please join us!

Cheryl Faust, secretary, Fine Arts Department

Construction Update: There is an electrical power shutdown at Sharadin Arts Building scheduled on Saturday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to noon. This will affect the new art education addition, ceramics, fine metals and room 105 on the first floor. The remainder of the building will be unaffected.

PASSHE Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Institute - Applications are now being accepted for the PASSHE Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Institute 2008 which will take place from June 22-27 at the McKeever Environmental Learning Center near Slippery Rock University. This intensive leadership experience is geared to undergraduate women in any major field of study and provides a forum for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to nurture the leadership potential of women students. It creates an experience that empowers women as leaders, challenges women to realize their full potential as leaders, and connects women with other women who are committed to social change. The workshop sessions are designed to take a student from her current skill level to a higher level of awareness and ability in the areas of communication, leadership, interpersonal development and community action. Costs for the program are underwritten by the PASSHE Women’s Consortium and the Student Affairs Officers from the 14 PASSHE institutions. Students selected to participate need only provide their own transportation, personal items and time. Applications are now available online at http://www.kutztown.edu/divisions/studentservices/do/leadership.aspx with a submission deadline of Monday, April 28.

Please encourage your students to apply. Sometimes all it takes to get a student to apply is for a staff or faculty member to offer words of support. For more details, please contact Anne K. Reel (reel@kutztown.edu), Assistant to the Vice President for Special Programs and Services, Student Services and Campus Life.
