Please join the Undergraduate Admission Office in welcoming 45 ninth grade students from Benjamin Franklin Middle School today. These students will spend the day on campus learning about KU and post-secondary education.

The KU Philosophy Club will meet on Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. in 207 DeFrancesco. The speaker will be professor John Beaudoin, Northern Illinois University. All are welcome.

The Disney College Program will be on campus, Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. in 250 McFarland Student Union, recruiting for opportunities to "Live, Learn, and Earn" at the number one vacation destination on the planet. As a Disney College Program Cast Member, students work in entry level roles in the parks and resorts making magical memories for guests. Additionally, students live in Disney College and International Program housing, and have the unique opportunity to take classes and attend scheduled networking opportunities. Over 200 students will be participating in the Ninth Annual Berks County Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference on Saturday, April 26, at 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at KU. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to present their scholarly accomplishments in the form of paper presentations, poster displays, films, art exhibitions, and performances. The event is open to the public, and guests are welcome to visit anytime throughout the day. A full schedule of events and further details are available at: www.kutztown.edu/hecbc. This event is sponsored by the Higher Education Council of Berks County.

Know the Code! The Student Code of Conduct is the document published in student handbook that outlines the behavioral expectations of students. The Student Code of Conduct is currently under review and is being redeveloped in an effort to become a more effective and responsive tool that advocates personal responsibility and student accountability. Learn more about these changes and participate in a "Q&A" on Thursday, April 24, at 2 p.m. in 218B McFarland Student Union. A second session will also take place on Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. in 223 McFarland Student Union.

Just a reminder that on Thursday, April 24, the KU campus will participate in the national "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work" day. A list of all events is available via e-mail or at the Women's Center in 126 Old Main. Some of the activities include open classes, McFarland Student Union tours, chalking contest, a Human Resources program on the adult application and employment process (ages 10-15), Career Services discovery play (grades 7-12), and other events. A $5 voucher (good at any campus food facility) will be given to each registered child toward their lunch costs. Please remember that you are responsible for planning and overseeing your guest's participation after receiving approval from supervisors, if applicable. Guests should be between the ages of 8 and 18.

CommUnity Yard Sale:  Put Your Junk in Our Trunk

During the week of April 28-May 2, volunteers of the Off Campus Advisory Council (OCAC) will be available to collect unwanted but still useable items from KU students, faculty, and staff, as well as community residents. Instead of throwing out unwanted furniture, clothing, books, household items, toys, and etc., donate them to us. Pick up locations must be within the Kutztown Borough. To make an appointment for a pickup, or for more information, call 610-683-1524.

Items will be for sale (by donation) at the kitchen building in the Kutztown Fairgrounds from May 5–9, noon–4 p.m., and on May 10–11, from noon-6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit FRIEND, INC.

Register Now for the Great Golden Bear Golf Scramble

Entry forms are currently available for the Tenth Annual Great Golden Bear Golf Scramble. This year’s scramble will be held on Friday, June 6, at Willow Hollow Golf Course in Leesport, Pa. The shotgun start at Willow Hollow will be 1 p.m.  The entry fee for a foursome is $400, and twosomes can enter at $225. The fee includes a tee prize, a pre-scramble lunch, driving range pass and discount at Sittler Golf, the ninth-hole beverage stop, post-scramble barbeque and awards ceremony, greens and cart fees, special contests, and a chance to win great prizes. Entry forms can be obtained by calling the athletic advancement office at ext. 3-4755, or via e-mail at ogeka@kutztown.edu. Proceeds from the scramble benefit the KU athletic scholarship fund. The scramble is limited to 36 foursomes, and has been a sellout for nine years. Please register early.

PASSHE Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Institute - Applications are now being accepted for the PASSHE Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Institute 2008 which will take place from June 22-27 at the McKeever Environmental Learning Center near Slippery Rock University. This intensive leadership experience is geared to undergraduate women in any major field of study and provides a forum for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to nurture the leadership potential of women students. It creates an experience that empowers women as leaders, challenges women to realize their full potential as leaders, and connects women with other women who are committed to social change. The workshop sessions are designed to take a student from her current skill level to a higher level of awareness and ability in the areas of communication, leadership, interpersonal development and community action. Costs for the program are underwritten by the PASSHE Women’s Consortium and the Student Affairs Officers from the 14 PASSHE institutions. Students selected to participate need only provide their own transportation, personal items, and time. Applications are now available online at http://www.kutztown.edu/divisions/studentservices/do/leadership.aspx with a submission deadline of Monday, April 28.
