Daily Brief Returns to Standard Format -- As the semester nears a close, and the number of Daily Brief re-run announcements has lessened, the "New Announcements" heading will be put on hold until such time as needed.

Attention Faculty:  If you adopted the same textbook for the fall semester, please remind your students they may sell back their textbooks prior to leaving for summer break.  Should they choose to do so, now is when textbooks will be at their highest value.  Textbook buyback will take place at the following locations:

               KU Student Bookstore – 4/28 thru 5/5

               Old Main – 5/5 thru 5/9

               South Dining Hall – 5/5 thru 5/9

Students with paid housing deposits for the 2008/2009 academic year: Thursday, May 1 is the last day to contractually cancel your 08/09 housing contract without loss of deposit. Cancellations must be made in person at the Housing and Residential Services Office located in 106 Old Main during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).

UPCOMING EVENTS


The Student Union Art Gallery is currently showing "Mass Produce" featuring quilted wall hangings by Megan Gayman. The show will be on display now until May 9. There is a catered opening reception on Thursday, May 1 from 6-7 p.m.

KU Jazz Ensemble I will hold a concert tonight, 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium, featuring music for big band.  Selections from the Great American Songbook will be performed including "The Very Thought of You" and "Orange Colored Sky," in addition to new pieces from the recording project for Walrus Publishing.  The concert is free and open to the public.

On Thursday, May 8, Eckhaus will be hosting a benefit art auction. This is a great opportunity to pick up some art for your offices and homes.  The auction will have pieces by KU faculty, KU students, and artists from the Kutztown community.  Some pieces will start as low as $20, while some will be more expensive.  The event runs from 6-9 p.m., with the first hour being preview and silent auction. There will be a live auction from 7-9 p.m..  Refreshments will be served.  Tickets are $5 per person, and can be bought either in advance at Eckhaus or at the door.  All proceeds will benefit Eckhaus programs.

Eckhaus is KU's student-run art gallery and arts space.  Further information about Eckhaus can be found on their website:  www.eckhaus.org.  Eckhaus is located at 157 W. Main Street.

Feast of the Ascension of the Lord

 

Thursday, May 1, is the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. The following Masses will be celebrated at Christopher House: a Vigil Mass at 9 p.m. today, and Mass at 11:05 a.m. on Thursday, May 1.

Performance Art Piece by James Weiss, Department of Fine Arts, and the Brooklyn band Rahu-Ketu will present "Cartography," today at 8:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room. This collaboration between storyteller Weiss and the rock 'n' roll ensemble interweaves image/music/text.  A reception for the artists will be held at Eckhaus Art Gallery following the performance. There is a $5 donation requested.
