NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS


PLEASE ANNOUNCE TO ALL CLASSES

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 2008 WILL BE DESIGNATED AS A FRIDAY MAKE-UP DAY

 

This means that both Friday, April 4, 2008 and Saturday, April 5, 2008 will be on a Friday schedule.  I realize that this may be inconvenient for some, but this is the only solution available.  PLEASE ANNOUNCE THIS CHANGE IN THE SCHEDULE TO YOUR CLASSES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

 

Also, the Tuesday evening  February 12, 2008 classes that were rescheduled for Friday evening, February 22, 2008 are to be rescheduled to Friday evening, April 11, 2008.  Exceptions to this will be subject to approval by the Provost.

Construction Update: Elevator testing will occur Wednesday, March 12. This testing will affect only the Lytle elevator and the freight elevator located in the Admin Building. Testing will begin at approximately 8 a.m., causing these elevators to be out of service for short periods of time that day.

We apologize for this inconvenience, and look forward to continued improvements to our campus.

Middle States Decennial Accreditation – Update

The Middle States Decennial Self-Study Report was mailed to the nine members of the evaluation team on February 18. As copies are printed, they will be made available to the campus community.

In preparation for the campus visit scheduled for March 30 – April 2, 2008, faculty, staff, and students are invited to the following information sessions (11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). Members of the Steering Committee will answer questions about the self-study process, self-study report, evidence room, evaluation team, site visit, accreditation, and Middle States.

XBOX Domination 

Come to an exciting night packed with XBOX, WII, PS3, and DDR competitions on Wednesday, March 5, in 218 McFarland Student Union Building. This event is sponsored by ACE. There will be $1000 total in prizes. Doors open at 7 p.m. and will begin closing at 10:30 p.m.

Kutztown University College Bowl 

We are looking for Kutztown University’s finest students, so pull a team of five together and come compete against your fellow peers, for the first annual Kutztown University College Bowl. The event will take place on March 31, at 7 p.m., in the Multi-Purpose Room of the McFarland Student Union, and costs absolutely nothing for teams to enter and compete! Come to the Student Union and Involvement Services office, 153 McFarland Student Union, by March 21 to sign-up! Light refreshments will be served at the actual event and prizes will be awarded to the top team

“GOLD OUT” AT KEYSTONE HALL FOR PSAC BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS TUESDAY

Today, at 7 p.m., the KU men's basketball team will host a first-round PSAC Playoff Game at Keystone Hall. It will be "Gold Out" night, with all fans asked to wear gold in support of the Golden Bears. Gold T-Shirts will be given to the first 250 KU students in attendance. In addition, rally towels will be given to the first 250 KU fans. Admission is free for KU students with a valid ID. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for non-KU students. Please note, since this is a PSAC championship event, no passes or season tickets can be honored.  For more information, visit the KU athletics website. The Art of Wellness: 2008 Health and Wellness Expo

Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to participate in "The Art of Wellness: 2008 Health and Wellness Expo" today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of McFarland Student Union. Featured will be "Earth Rhythms," awareness beading, chair massages, and 22 health promotion vendors.  We encourage you to experience the Community Drum Circle, an entry-level learning experience where participants express themselves collectively by using a chorus of assorted instruments and rhythms. FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Workshop – All faculty, staff, and graduate assistants are invited to attend an informational workshop on FERPA requirements. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, known as FERPA, governs the release of student information to parties inside and outside of the university. It is imperative that all members of the university community are aware of how FERPA affects information that can be provided about students. Newer faculty and staff members, who may not have attended prior university-sponsored FERPA workshops, are especially encouraged to attend. The workshop will take place today, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in 250 McFarland Student Union. UPCOMING EVENTS


Association of Campus Events is sponsoring a Murder Mystery Dinner on Thursday, March 6. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for this free event can be obtained at the Information Desk in the McFarland Student Union. 


The Early Learning Center will host its annual open house for fall enrollment on March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. in 117 Rickenbach. Tour the school and learn about the preschool (part-day/full day) and kindergarten (full day) programs. Children are encouraged to attend.

Decision Makers Forum to Host Bill Bradley and Jeb Bush

 

At 4 p.m., Thursday, March 27, the Decision Makers Forum will host Bill Bradley, former U.S. Senator from New Jersey, and Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida, at the Sovereign Bank Academic Session in Keystone Arena. 

These national political figures will participate in a question and answer session open to students, faculty, and staff. Join us for what promises to be an in-depth look at public policy and current U.S. politics as we enter the 2008 presidential election cycle. Your participation will help shape the content of this annual program, entering its 19th year. Admission is FREE for KU students, faculty and staff, and tickets are required. You can pick up tickets in the McFarland Student Union coat room at any of the following designated times:

Monday, March 3, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Tuesday, March 4, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 5, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The 2008-09 applications for the Dr. Lawrence M. Stratton Scholarship are now available in the Financial Aid Office. Criteria: the applicant must earn 30 or more credits by the end of spring semester, must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, and must demonstrate participation and leadership in KU campus activities. Applications must be received in the Financial Aid Office no later than April 30, 2008.
