Please save the date! The Faculty/Professional Staff Retirement and Emeriti Recognition Dinner will be held on Saturday, May 3, in the Multipurpose Room of the McFarland Student Union. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Formal invitations will be mailed at a later date. The retirees, who will be honored for their many years of dedicated service to the University, are as follows:

“The Asian Subcontinent Today: Issues and Answers,” the Kutztown University Biennial International Conference, will take place in 183 McFarland Student Union (Alumni Auditorium) today, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Tuesday, April 1, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Scholars, artists, and performers from around the world (including some of KU’s own!) will gather for this two-day event to address issues of the region including culture, literature, politics, economics, bioethics, religion, and more. Monday evening’s entertainment at 7 p.m. will feature Maestro Shafatullah Khan and his ensemble on Sitar and Tabla.  This event will be held in 183 McFarland Student Union. All events, including the Monday evening concert, are free and open to the public. Come join us for a celebration of the Asian subcontinent and the richness of the many cultures found there!

Professor Meadows will be conducting the workshop “Survival Skills for the Large Classroom: Working in and Leading Groups” on Tuesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. in 240 Beekey. Working in a study, club, or project group can sometimes be frustrating and unproductive, but research shows that study groups are the most effective method for learning course material. Students who attend this workshop will walk away with handouts and information on how to make group work effective and easy.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts presents visiting Philadelphia artist Mei-Ling Hom. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Auditorium of the McFarland Student Union Building.

The Philosophy Club will meet next on Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. in 207 DeFrancesco. The speaker will be Professor Joseph Jedwab, Oriel College, Oxford on: "A Lockean Theory of the Trinity and Incarnation." All are welcome.

DANCE SHOWCASE:  Sunday, April 6, at 7 p.m.  

The dance showcase will feature the Lenhart Dance Company performing works by Twyla Tharp and faculty member, Olive Prince. Also included in the show are student dance works and a performance by the Jazz II class.  Come see a wonderful dance show and appreciate the many talents in the Department of Human Kinetics! The 2008 Student Leader of the Year Award nominations from faculty and staff are now being accepted. 

Criteria for eligibility include: good academic and disciplinary standing; a member of the Student Government Association (paid student activity fee); demonstrate excellence in service to the community and good university citizenship and cooperation; demonstrate evidence of leadership and future leadership by actively participating in one or more of the following: (1) an active member of an SGA Gold, Maroon, or registered organization at a level that is meaningful, influential and makes a significant difference in the quality of the organization or activity, (2) elected officer in one or more student organizations directly affecting and enhancing the personal/professional life of university students, (3) a student employee within the university who significantly impacts the quality of campus life.

Kutztown University and the Borough of Kutztown are pleased to announce an open application process for a Student Ambassador non-voting position within the Borough Council of the borough of Kutztown. This position is open to any full-time KU student and will begin Sept. 1 for a one-year term. Please be advised that the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Privately Owned Vehicle reimbursement rate has increased to 50.5 cents per mile effective March 19. In accordance with Board of Governors’ Policy 1986-07-A, Travel Expense Regulations, the reimbursement rate for use of a personal automobile for official System travel also has increased to 50.5 cents per mile effective March 19. (For travel occurring from February 1, 2007, through March 18, 2008, the reimbursement rate is 48.5 cents per mile.)

Please also be advised that when submitting travel reimbursement forms and check requisition forms that you no longer need to provide social security numbers on any of these forms. For more information, contact the Accounts Payable office at ext. 3-4147.
