GLBTQ Resource Center's Film Series Thursdays: "The Laramie Project"
Film Series Thursdays continues on Thursday, Oct. 2 with "The Laramie Project." This film depicts the true story of an American town in the wake of the murder of Matthew Shepard. In October 1998, 21 year-old Mathew Shepard was found savagely beaten, tied to a fence, and left to die in Laramie, Wyo. "The Laramie Project" is the portrait of a town painfully forced to confront itself in the reflective glare of the national spotlight responding with love, anger, sympathy, support, and defiance. Show time is 7 p.m. in room 4 Old Main with a discussion to follow.

There is No Place Like Home….KU Homecoming 2008. Homecoming Week begins Monday, Oct. 20 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 26. There are numerous events that take place throughout the week to welcome back former students, their families, and to celebrate our Kutztown pride!
This year we are hosting a parade and tailgate city, which are both scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25. This year we are excited this year to host the Aqua String Band, one of the award winning bands in the Mummer’s organization of Philadelphia, along with our own KU Marching band.
I am writing to encourage you to participate in these events, and to encourage the students you advise to participate. We are looking for volunteers who may want to showcase their convertibles, antique car(s), or special talents with a performance. Kutztown is known for being rich in the multitude of arts venues, and it would be a wonderful addition to have department floats or faculty/staff lead performances throughout the parade. I hope you will take a moment to drop us a note sharing your plans for making this homecoming parade a truly memorable event.
If you have a convertible, antique car(s), or special talent / performance and would like to participate in the parade, please contact the Office of Student Involvement Services at 610-683-4848 or ext. 3-4848
