Vol. 2009 #493, Friday, December 18, 2009
Announcements
As most of you are aware, Barbara Taliaferro, Associate Vice President,
Diversity and Inclusion, is retiring at the end of the month. As a
result, the reporting structure for our Human Diversity offices will be
realigned. Effective January 2, 2009, Multicultural Services, the Women’s
Center and the GLBTQ Center will report to the Division of Student Services
and Campus Life. Vice President Chick Woodard will establish a transition
team to develop and recommend a “best fit” for these units within the
division. On an interim basis, these units will report to Dr. Andrea
Kirshman, Assistant Vice President for New Student Programs and Services.
Our ADA office will report to the Office of Social Equity under the guidance
of Jesus Peņa, Associate Vice President for Equity and Compliance. We
believe this overall realignment will best serve our students, faculty and
staff as we move forward, while allowing us to maintain the quality
established by Human Diversity in the past.
F. Javier Cevallos, President

The Financial Aid Services staff extends thanks to all who attended and were
a part of the 2009 Non-Instructional Staff Holiday Luncheon. A special
thank you to our campus colleagues for their generous donations for the One
by One Cat Rescue Shelter and the Almost Home Animal Sanctuary. We
gratefully acknowledge the support of all those who contributed to this
annual KU tradition.
Your hosts, the Financial Aid Services staff
On behalf of the Community Outreach Center and Friends Inc., thank you to all individuals, offices, departments, and organizations that contributed to the Holiday Food Box drive for Friends Inc. We met our goal of 75 boxes! In addition we were able to give about $300 in gift certificates that will go to purchase turkeys. These boxes combined with other boxes from local high schools, junior high schools, and elementary schools will provide about 200 families a holiday with a little extra cheer thanks to your generosity and holiday spirit. Students from the Community Outreach Center and staff from the Student Services and Campus Life division volunteered to distribute these boxes at the Food Pantry on Thursday. We are grateful for their help as this is the busiest month of the year for the Friends Inc Food pantry.
Thanks again to everyone for showing the KU Holiday Spirit!
Jerry W. Schearer, assistant dean, New Student Programs and Services
