Service Request Schedule/Special Event Support-
In an effort to better serve our customers, the Facilities Office is scheduling events and deliveries approximately two months in advance.  As a result, timely planning and notification by our customers will greatly increase our opportunity for success in this area.  Because of the many varied interests and competing priorities, we must be able to anticipate use of our limited resources.  In the future, the Facilities Department may not be able to guarantee that we will service requests on short notice, since doing so may impact other customers' planned requests.  Please submit your set-up requests and special event support needs at least two weeks in advance in order to assure that you will have the level of support that you need.  Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Construction Update: There will be a campus wide electrical shutdown starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30 to perform maintenance on the substation. This shutdown will affect all buildings on campus, and is expected to last two hours. At that time, the buildings will be returned to service, with the exception of the following: Beck Hall, Deatrick Hall, Stratton Administration Center (new section closest to Main Street) and the Heat Plant (old), including the Garage. Those buildings will be returned to service by 4 p.m. Please be sure to turn off your computers and other electrical devices by close of business on Tuesday, Dec. 29. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Facilities Work Control Center at ext. 3-1594.

Upgrades to campus fire alarm systems will occur throughout the semester break period (Dec. 21, through Jan. 15).  These upgrades will include replacement of the PC-based graphical command center at Public Safety and programming of voice-communication fire alarm systems to support the university’s new Mass Notification capabilities. SimplexGrinnell fire alarm technicians will also conduct testing of the voice communication/mass notification network, which will include sounding the new emergency notification tone and selected messages.  A pre-announcement, alerting you to the impending test, will be provided before the test is conducted.  Additional information on the Mass Notification system will be provided in January 2010.
