Announcements
The Purchasing Department would like to alert the campus community to an upcoming change in the manner in which you receive your desktop delivery of supplies ordered from Office Max Solutions. Monday, March 2, Office Max will begin a “Green Monday” project in the eastern regions of Pennsylvania. This means that as part of their sustainability efforts, Office Max will not be delivering products via their private fleet on Mondays. The “Green Monday” project has already begun in the western regions had has been well received by both their customers and environmentalists.
What this means to Kutztown University Office Max customers, is that any orders placed on Fridays will now be delivered on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. Kutztown University plans on accepting this change as a small part of our effort to support both the Governor’s and the Chancellor’s efforts to reduce waste, emissions and become more environmentally friendly.
Please let the Purchasing Department know if you have any specific concerns and we will do our best to address them.

Eating disorders are illnesses, not choices. Eating disorders are
complex conditions that arise from a combination of long-standing behavioral,
emotional, psychological, interpersonal, biological, and social factors. While
eating disorders may begin with preoccupations with food and weight, they are
about much more than food. Everyday, researchers are discovering more about the
influence of genetics on eating disorders and finding that while environmental
factors may pull the trigger, genetics loads the gun. In the United States, as
many as 10 million females and one million males are fighting a life and death
battle with an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. Approximately 25
million more are struggling with binge eating disorder. Because of the secrecy
and shame associated with eating disorders, it is very likely that there are many more.

Mathematics Department Colloquium: Dr. Jennifer Gorman, assistant professor of mathematics at Gannon University, will be presenting "Oh the Places You’ll Go From a MapQuest to a MATHquest: On Graph Theory and Combinatorics," at 11 a.m. today in 228 Lytle Hall. When taking a trip we are often concerned with how much the trip will cost. One aspect of a trip is the tolls on a road, so in planning our route we can try to travel on the cheapest roads available to us. In this talk we will use graph theory to help us explore more formally the idea of travelling on the cheapest roads. More specifically we will investigate a variant of the Travelling Salesman Problem as well as the Hamiltonian Path Problem for some special classes of graphs. We will also observe how often in mathematics we set out to prove one result and along the way we find ourselves with a new problem or ”quest” we need to conquer. For more information, please visit: http://faculty.kutztown.edu/mcloughl/colloquia.html
