As another semester begins please keep KUBoK in mind when offering extra credit options to students.  KUBoK’s graduate assistant will work with you to find extra credit options that fit KUBoK’s and your needs. An important thing to remember when allowing students to participate in KUBoK for extra credit is that they must participate in a training prior to their first walk with us. KUBoK is hosting their fall training on Wednesday, Sep. 15 at 7 p.m. in McFarland Student Union 250.

If you have any questions about KUBoK or are interested in offering KUBoK as an extra credit option for your students, please contact the graduate assistant, Amanda Keith at KUBoKWatch@gmail.com

KU's Off Campus Student Life and Student Union and Involvement Services will once again be organizing a “KU Community Blitz on Saturday, September 11, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. With the assistance of volunteers from the University as well as the town, our goal is to welcome back students living in the Kutztown community and wish them a great year.

The plan is to canvas Kutztown in teams of three to four and distribute welcome bags to identified student housing. We will form at the Trinity Church (357 W. Main Street) at 10:30 a.m. where assignments, instructions, maps and bags will be distributed. I am anticipating that with enough volunteers, we can canvas the Kutztown area in an hour or so. When you have completed your rounds, lunch will be provided at Trinity Church for all volunteers.

In order for this event to happen, we are in the need your help. If you are able to give a little bit of your time toward the success of this venture, please e-mail me at nolan@kutztown.edu. Friends and family are welcome to join us. Please feel free to share this request with other members of your staff and student organizations that you oversee.

Thank you in advance for helping to make Kutztown Community Blitz another success!

The Office of University Relations maintains a master list of all employees that is used to expedite the transferring of calls throughout the university. This list is separate from the electronic phonebook which is available on the website or the paper directory. In order to keep our information accurate, we are requesting that individuals advise our office of any changes to their contact information — phone extension, department/location, e-mail address, title. Please send your updates to norman@kutztown.edu. Our office strives to maintain accurate information and appreciates the cooperation of everyone to help us meet this goal.

The Student Union and Involvement Services is holding student staff training this week. Since part of training is a community service project, we have chosen Hope Lodge, a facility run by the American Cancer Society that houses cancer patients and their families while they receive outpatient treatment to be the recipient.

We are asking the KU community to donate the following items for our student staff to collect and deliver:

·  paper towels/toilet paper/tissues/tissue purse packs

·  aluminum foil/plastic wrap/food storage bags

·  garbage bags (kitchen-size and large)

·  disposeable utensils

·  dish detergent/dishwasher detergent/hand soap/hand sanitizer

·  NO FOOD

If you are interested in participating, please drop your items off at the McFarland Student Union info desk anytime Wednesday, August 25-Friday August 27. For more information, please e-mail Jen Topp: jtopp516@live.kutztown.edu.

Personal

As I come upon my day of retirement, I want to thank everyone at KU who has made my 24 years a delight. A heartfelt thank you goes to my supervisor, Crystal Taylor and my co-workers for hosting a most beautiful retirement gathering and to anyone who shared that day with Jose and me, and to anyone who has sent  cards, emails, phone calls or has shared hugs and tears. I will treasure all your sentiments.

I also want to thank my MSU group of co-workers for sharing lunch with me in honor of my retirement. It was very nice to see everyone. I wish all of you well.

Love and blessings to all!
