Construction Update: There will be an electrical outage in Rickenbach Research and Learning Center starting at 6 -9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29 in support of the chiller replacement project. This outage will affect interior and exterior lighting systems only. All other utilities, phone systems and IT systems in the building will remain operational during the outage.

The office of Student Union & Involvement Services is holding its first leadership conference, "LeaderSHIP: Uncovering Your Treasure Chest" on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011.  We are asking KU faculty and professional staff to please consider leading a session. Main topics covered will be collaboration, diversity, and finances/money management, directed at Greek leaders, emerging leaders, and service leaders. We will finish the day with a dinner and keynote address by local educator and leadership professional, Dr. Nathaniel Williams.  If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting opportunity, please e-mail Jennifer Topp at jtopp516@live.kutztown.edu with your proposal by Jan. 24, 2011.

The KU copy center operator will be located at Kutztown Publishing from today until Dec. 22 and can be reached at 610-683-7341 ext. 218 during this time. Normal deliveries will still occur  on campus. If there is a need to get a package or copy job  to the copy center, please drop off at the mailroom in the Academic Forum. Happy holidays!
     


As a service to the campus and community, Keystone Field house will open for recreational play during the following time period:  Dec. 20-24, noon - 6 p.m. The baskets will be available for use, but sports equipment will not be issued.


Academic Forum Generator Maintenance -
The emergency generator at the Academic Forum will be having maintenance work done on Wednesday, Dec. 22. The generator will be worked on all day and will require the building load to be on the generator while it operates. Thank you!

The only dining location open this week will be the Main Street Deli in the Cub Café, Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. for fresh, HOT coffee and assorted baked goods to start your morning right! Then from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., we will be offering daily lunch specials as follows:


Today: The "BRIGGS" Burger - A.K.A. Scooter burger... a 6 oz. hand-patted burger marinated with hot sauce and ranch dressing. 
 
Tuesday: "Tuna Melt" - Tuna fish topped with your choice of cheese and melted to perfection. 
 

Wednesday: "Cheese
 Steak Melt" - Steak with sautéed onions and peppers with your choice of cheese. Make it California style by adding lettuce and tomato.  

Thursday: "BBQ Chicken Melt" - Grilled Chicken smothered with BBQ sauce and topped with your favorite toppings. 

Friday: closed.

Faculty and Staff:  The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching will sponsor a workshop on general education at Kutztown University on Jan. 13, 2011, 9:30 a.m. through lunch in the MSU Multipurpose room. Titled "Kutztown University’s General Education curriculum:  What do we know? Where do we go?," the focus of the workshop is general education and general education assessment at Kutztown University.  Faculty who are working on assessments of specific general education outcomes will provide short reports on their work. There will also be small group discussions that center on using this information and conducting additional assessments. The Sociology Comprehensive Exam for spring 2011 and fall 2011 graduates will begin Jan. 11, 2011 with the distribution of the Theory Section questions by e-mail. Students planning to take any or all sections of the exam spring 2011 need to sign-up with the department secretary, Lori Dahlquist, by Dec. 28. To sign up, please drop by the Anthropology and Sociology Department office in Old Main 467 from 8 a.m.- noon or 1 - 4:30 p.m. weekdays or e-mail ldahlqui@kutztown.edu.
