The following DVDs were added to the media library and are now available in the AV Center:

Wend Kuuni:  God’s Gift (DVD 4444) Wend Kuuni is an apolitical pastoral romance set in Burkina Faso before the coming of Islam or Christianity.  A mute, memoryless child is found under a tree by a peddler’s village who in gratitude rename him, Wend Kuuni or “God’s gift.”  In a series of flashbacks, we learn how bigotry and cruelty ironically drove Wend Kuuni to discover the compassion of his adopted village.

A Child’s World:  Mind Games (DVD 3839) This film explores the ability to read and then manipulate people’s thoughts, known as the “theory of mind.”  Once children begin to imagine and pretend, they have started to develop it.  But even after acquiring this skill, they don’t fully understand how to use it.  That’s why young kids often tell the truth even when adults would rather they didn’t.  Not until they get older, around ages six and seven, are they able to view life outside of rigid rules and see the moral shades of gray that indicate when it’s okay to lie and when it isn’t.
