Announcements
KU Launches New Interactive Athletics Web site.
Kutztown University’s 500 Golden Bear athletes get a new virtual home today with the launch of an innovative, interactive athletics Web site, www.kubears.com. The site features faster and easier access to sports scores and highlights, more high-quality video content and photographs, options for SMS and text messaging updates, interviews with athletes and coaches and online merchandising.
The athletics site redesign project was shepherded by KU sports information director Rob Knox in association with Syracuse, N.Y.-based Internet Consulting Services, Inc., (ICS). The site utilizes the ICS Web-based content management system, SIDEARM, (Sports Information Distribution Engine with Archives and Records Management). SIDEARM technology enables easier roster management, dynamic scoreboards, interactive polls, live in-game statistics, streaming audio and video, sponsorship recognition, simpler processing of news releases, and newsletter and recruiting components. ICS lists more than 340 clients nationwide including the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference, Drexel University, Cornell University and Syracuse University.
Construction Update: Demolition of the visitor bleachers located in the
Stadium began yesterday. Relocation of
all sports sheds will take place today. Access to the
spectator area will be closed off to pedestrian traffic. The track and field
will remain open for athletic events with access as usual. If you have
questions, please contact Patrick J Antonio Jr., project manager at ext.
3-4919.
