There’s still time to consider the KU Summer Program in Austria and Germany! Take in the scenic beauty of Austrian alpine village, visit historic cities and landmarks, all while earning academic credit. The trip is May 30- June 23 and is limited to just 24 students. Info Meeting Re: KU Mexico Sketchbook Course 2010, Tuesday, Jan. 26, 11 a.m., Communication Design Conference Room, Sharadin 312, above the Art Gallery.

 In May 2010, the Communication Design Department is offering a Mexico sketchbook course. Students travel to the charming colonial cities of Guanajuato and Queretaro and visit the amazing capitol, Mexico City. Excursions include climbing the pyramids of Teotihuacan, a visit to an underground silver mine, and the birthplace of muralist Diego Rivera.  Each student completes a sketchbook documenting the travel experience. Students can earn 1 to 3 credits.

Duo Terlano recital: The Department of Music presents faculty cellist Marie-Aline Cadieux and violinist Johannes Dietrich, in works from the solo and duo literature, from Beethoven to Ysaye.  Something for everyone!  The recital is free and open to the public, Sunday, Jan. 24 at  3 p.m., in the Georgian Room.

Keep your promise and reach your goal! New Year's Resolution event Thursday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union Multipurpose room. The Campus Wellness Committee and Health Promotion Services have joined together to assist faculty, staff and students in keeping their New Year’s resolutions. There will be presentations, assessments, tips and prizes!

 

Loosen up with Wellness BINGO hosted by the KU Health Ambassadors from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and relax with student performances from 11 a.m.- noon.  Receive free health assessments: College Heights Bone Density Scan, Link Chiropractic’s Wellness Assessment, blood pressure and BMI readings, and a fitness assessment. Sample healthy snacks from AVI and Good Eatz while you collect tips on healthy eating, work-outs, stress management, emergency preparedness, smoking cessation, and party tips from the President's Round Table.

 

Your questions on healthy living answered by The American Hear Association, American Diabetes Association, and Berks County Solid Waste Authority about recycling.

I am saddened to inform the university community of the passing of KaAnn M. Doerrman, equity manager, Office of Social Equity, on December 28, 2009.  We will celebrate KaAnn’s life at a memorial service next Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. in the Georgian Room, Old Main.
