The next time you are in or around the Rohrbach Library, stop at the computer area on the first floor to see the display of READ posters that Tim Ballingall, our PR Intern, created as part of our National Library Week celebration last week. They are along the wall by the printers and have become quite popular. I posted some pictures of them on the “Rohrbach Library” Facebook page on Friday. I will post more as soon as Tim gets them up.

On behalf of the Residence Hall Association and Housing & Residential Services, I would like to thank the university community for supporting the 33rd annual Bearfest celebration!  The week of events would not have run so smoothly if it weren’t for the hard working and dedicated Facilities staff and our Custodians who make these type of student activities possible by providing excellent and adaptable service, especially in accommodating a last minute change in venue due to weather.  Additionally, the Race against Racism was able to donate over $2000 to the Olivet Boys & Girls Club of Reading, and was a big success thanks in large part to the support of Recreational Services staff and Public Safety.

The F-1 parking Lot (behind Stratton Administration Center) and the F-4 Lot (between University Field and the old heating plant) will have limited access in an effort to accommodate the buses transporting the Special Olympics participants to University Field. The shuttle stop at lot A-2 will be clearly marked along College Boulevard. The shuttle will also run in the afternoon from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. to return employees to the A-2 lot. This Friday, Apr. 22, in addition to being "Good Friday" in some Christian circles is also "Earth Day 2011" across the country! And in celebration, KUR will be airing a special program entitled "The Water-Energy Crunch: A Powerful Puzzle" at 1 p.m.
"The Water-Energy Crunch" is a clash of essential needs. Humans are thirsty creatures who need water to drink and bathe, but also to produce most forms of energy. No water, no energy, and nothing goes on. Literally. How we resolve the competition between water and energy needs is a defining issue of this century. "The Water-Energy Crunch" is a co-production of IEEE Spectrum Magazine and the National Science Foundation. Friday, Apr. 22, (Earth Day), at 1 p.m. right here on the "Radio Voice of Kutztown University, KUR."
Michael Regensburger, student development educator, Radio Services

As the semester comes to a close, it will once again be time for the summer CONNECTIONS Involvement Fairs and we need your help, The Office for Student Involvement, along with CONNECTIONS, will be organizing an Involvement Fair held in the South Dining Hall during the new students’ first night on campus, during each of the nine Orientation cycles. The purpose of this fair is to expose students to organizations, campus activities, civic services, volunteer opportunities, and other programs and possibilities. As an incentive for attendance at the Involvement Fair, we would like to offer students the chance to receive door prizes.

We are looking to the Kutztown University community, as well as student organizations, to create a showcase of campus life. The nature of the event attracts freshmen and upperclassmen alike. We are extending an opportunity to the Kutztown University community to sponsor door prizes for each of the nine nights of the Involvement Fair.  KU apparel, Bear Bucks, local business gift certificates, and book store gift certificates are just some examples of door prizes for our new students. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated. We will be displaying “Today’s Door Prize" sponsored by (your name or department name) at each Involvement Fair.

If you are interested, please email Kristen Gallagher at kgallagh@live.kutztown.edu. Please indicate your department and door prize contribution. You can also feel free to contact me by phone x3-1383. Thank you for your time and consideration.
