The campus community is invited to recycle personally-owned old and unwanted electronics at Kutztown Area High School on Friday and Saturday, August 19 and 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Old electronics, including computer towers, laptops, monitors, mice, keyboards, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, telephones are included and even small appliances such as toasters, radios, TV’s, VCR’s, and blenders - please, no glass. The event is open to anyone in Berks County.

(Large appliances, such as refrigerators, dryers, air conditioners, and dishwashers, along with any items that have hazardous or bio-hazardous materials cannot be accepted.)

KUR Radio - today, tune in from noon to 2 p.m. for a special celebrity guest DJ appearance by "The Green Machine." "The Green Machine" was one of KUR's most popular DJ's way back in the mid 2000's and we are honored he has decided to grace our airwaves with a special broadcast. Then at 2:45 p.m. is "The Diversity Rest Stop" interview program, this week sitting down with smooth jazz/soul artist Leila.

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, "Groovy" Greg Dottor takes control of the airwaves with "The Heart of Rock and Soul."

Later in the week on Friday at 1 p.m. don't forget to check out "Remix Radio with B. Lee", "Monsoon Mike's Jukebox of Cheese" at 2 p.m., "Anything Goes" with Lise Avery at 4 p.m., "Fifty One Percent" (women's issues talk) at 5 p.m., "This Way Out" (gay/lesbian issues talk) at 5:30 p.m. and "The Drumstick" with Dillon Snyder at 6 p.m.

Construction Update: Starting on Wednesday, Aug. 3, paving repairs will begin in Lot A-4, causing this area to be closed to all parking. Lytle Lane will be closed to all traffic starting from College Boulevard to the entrance of Lot A-5 starting Monday, Aug. 8 in support of the paving project. This road will be closed until Monday, Aug. 22 (weather permitting). Access to Lytle Hall will still be possible from N. Campus Drive by the ball fields and the Academic Forum and heading north.

Kutztown University women's swimming team was named to the College Swimming Coaches' Association of America (CSCAA) Spring 2011 Scholar All-America list announced by that organization recently.

Kutztown University's 3.27 cumulative grade-point average ranked 18th nationally. This is the fifth consecutive season and seventh time in the last eight years that KU has earned a spot on the CSCAA Scholar-All-America Team.

In addition, several KU student-athletes were recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as 2010-11 scholar-athletes: Kerry Choplin, Monica Fisher, Stephanie Kearns, Katie Kelly, Lauren Malloy, Krista Schlupp and Allison Sheely.

MSU roof remediation/construction project update: Please be advised that the parking areas adjacent to the MSU metered lot are currently accessible, while the metered lot continues to be blocked-off during this phase of the roof project.

From now through Aug. 22 there will be intermittent periods when both the surrounding lots and the metered parking lot will be blocked off in order to reduce the potential for overspray contact or damage to vehicles.

Please note when the barriers are put in place to block parking, it is being done to protect your vehicles.
