ANNOUNCEMENTS


Kutztown University’s Kori Meshaw (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) of the men’s outdoor track and field team
was named to the 2011 United States Track and Field Cross-Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Academic Track & Field team. A total of 162 student-athletes representing 63 institutions compose the group.

Meshaw enjoyed an outstanding season on the track for the Golden Bears. He ended his season by winning the 400-meter hurdles at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship meet in a season best time of 52.79 seconds. Meshaw was also a NCAA championship provisional qualifier. He was a NCAA Division II provisional qualifier and earned All-PSAC and USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honors.

Kutztown finished fifth overall at the PSAC championships. The Golden Bears were seventh in the final USTFCCCA Atlantic Regional rankings.

- Tuesday, it's Latino music, news, and commentary from 5 to 6 p.m. with "Notas Latinas."

On Wednesday tune in at 2:45 p.m. for "The Diversity Rest Stop" interview program, this week sitting down with local, Fleetwood-native jazz artist Marsha Heydt. KUR has interviewed hundreds of jazz musicians over the years, and it's always extra special to interview one with roots right here in our own back yard.

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, "Groovy" Greg Dottor takes control of the airwaves with "The Heart of Rock and Soul."

On Friday at 1 p.m. check out "Remix Radio with B. Lee", "Monsoon Mike's Jukebox of Cheese" at 2 p.m., "Anything Goes" with Lise Avery at 4 p.m., "Fifty One Percent" (women's issues talk) at 5 p.m., "This Way Out" (gay/lesbian issues talk) at 5:30 p.m. and "The Drumstick" with Dillon Snyder at 6 p.m.

A solo exhibition of the work of KU assistant professor of fine arts, Jiawei Gong, was featured at the Dubuque Museum of Art’s McNamer Gallery in late July. According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in Iowa, the show highlighted 11 digital photographs from a new body of work by Jiawei Gong. Gong uses digital media, such as digital video, sound, digital photography, and interactive web art in practicing his creative ideas. He is currently focused on themes of the fundamental human experience and contemporary social commentary. – WCF Courier


The campus community is invited to recycle personally-owned old and unwanted electronics at Kutztown Area High School on Friday and Saturday, August 19 and 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Old electronics, including computer towers, laptops, monitors, mice, keyboards, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, telephones are included and even small appliances such as toasters, radios, TV’s, VCR’s, and blenders - please, no glass. The event is open to anyone in Berks County.

(Large appliances, such as refrigerators, dryers, air conditioners, and dishwashers, along with any items that have hazardous or bio-hazardous materials cannot be accepted.)
