 ANNOUNCEMENTS

 This is a yearly reminder about travel reimbursement requirements - Please review the reverse side of the Travel Expense Form. Before any travel occurs or money is spent, you need to complete a travel expense form, sign the form, and obtain authorization (in the form of a signature) from the following:
•Supervisor or Chair
•Dean or Director/Manager (if greater than $500)
•Vice President (Provost) if greater than $2,500
All international travel must have approval from the Provost before any travel occurs. Failure to provide advance authorization may result in your request being denied and will definitely result in a delay in processing your travel expense reimbursement.

If you are attending a seminar or workshop, an agenda needs to be attached to your travel expense form. You need to reduce your allowable per diem for any meals that are offered by the seminar and workshop.
•Reduce your daily per diem by 21% if breakfast is offered.
•Reduce your daily per diem by 21% if lunch is offered.
•Reduce your daily per diem by 58% if dinner is offered.
The University can only reimburse for the lower of shuttle, cab/car service, or car rental when traveling from the airport to your hotel destination. “Frequent Flyer Miles” are not permitted on any University paid travel.

*IRS increasing Mileage Rate to 55.5 Cents per mile: The rate will increase to 55.5 cents per mile for all business miles driven from Jul. 1, 2011 through Dec. 31, 2011.

 On Aug. 16, Kutztown converted Desire2Learn to use Active Directory authentication. This changed all D2L usernames to email addresses and synchronized D2L passwords with email passwords. You will now need to log in with your official Kutztown email as your username and use the same password as you use to access your email. Your old username and password for D2L will no longer work. We hope that you will appreciate this change and quickly adjust to having one less username and password to remember.


The Rohrbach Library recently took responsibility for the audiovisual collection, equipment, and services of the Audiovisual Center (AVC), formerly located on the ground floor of the library. The collection, equipment, and services of the center will now be distributed throughout the Library. During the transition, the library staff will endeavor to meet the audiovisual needs of the campus community efficiently. The main contact telephone number for audiovisual services that are now a part of the Library is x3-4480 at the Information Commons desk.

Catalogers are working to reclassify more than 5,000 DVDs to the Library of Congress classification scheme so that they can be shelved in a new location open to browsing called Media which will be located on the second floor of the library. The reclassification will be completed by the end of September. Until the reclassification project is completed, DVDs awaiting reclassification and some other audiovisual materials will be available on request at the Information Commons desk.

Course reserves, some audiovisual equipment, laminating, poster printing, and color printing services may be requested at the Information Commons desk. The Ellison Die Cut system has been relocated to the Curriculum Materials Center. The Macintosh lab remains in its customary place in room 1 on the ground floor.

Semi-Annual Evacuation Drills Scheduled - The required semi-annual fire drills will be conducted in the academic buildings during the first two days of class. This schedule is selected to meet the state requirements at a time that is least likely to interrupt labs, presentations, and testing. To help these evacuation drills run smoothly and conclude in a timely fashion, please follow these guidelines:

•All students, faculty and staff should evacuate the building immediately, and in an orderly fashion, upon hearing the alarm.
•Close all doors to classrooms, offices, and stairways upon exiting.
•Utilize the closest EXIT pathway to the outside, which may not always be the most common or convenient exit. Please follow EXIT signs.
•Instruct all evacuees to walk well clear of the building to make room for others to exit behind them.
•Avoid blocking emergency vehicle pathways.
•Remain outside the building until the ALL CLEAR signal is given, which will not occur while audio or visual signals are still operating.

Reminder to all Faculty/Staff Student Organization Advisors - Please encourage your students to register their organization prior to the start of classes, on http://KUnited.kutztown.edu using their “MyKU” login. As part of the orientation program, our first year students will be given a demonstration of KUnited, therefore a strong representation of the 160 organizations on campus will enhance their experience.

TMA/iService Desk - iService Desk is an on-line work request system available to all campus customers to request Facilities services and support. Beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 23,  iService Desk will no longer require a username and password for access. You may recall that Facilities instituted a password on this system last fall while we worked to make this system available to residence hall students. We are happy to report that the implementation was successful. All residence hall occupants can now use iService Desk directly to report their maintenance needs. We appreciate your patience over the last academic year as we strived to implement this service for our students.
