Black History Month art exhibit: Q&A and reception with the Artists - Come to the Rohrbach Library this Thursday, Feb. 24, from 5 - 7 p.m. to hear Sandi Turner and Ed Terrell talk about their artwork that is currently featured in the “Success From the Past” exhibit in the Voices & Choices Center in the library. The art is part of the African American Art Coalition of Reading. Department of Speech Communication & Theatre presents the play "Fuddy Meer," a comic play by David Lindsay-Abaire, Feb. 22 – 27 at the Rickenbach Theatre, directed by KU associate professor Roxane Rix. The main character, Claire, is an amnesiac who wakes each morning as a blank slate which her husband and son must fill with the details of her life. When a strange man wants to rescue Claire from her murderous husband, the chase is on. The comic mayhem that follows is seen through the kaleidoscope of Claire's world, and culminates in revelations and reversals that prove none of us are what we appear to be. Curtain is at 8 p.m., or 2 p.m. for the final performance. Seating is limited in this intimate performance space, so get your tickets early. For more information, please call x3-4092. The Student Union Art Gallery is currently showing "Chromaticity" featuring paintings and prints by Catiebelle Bulmer. The exhibition will be on display from until Thursday, Mar.3. Please come by the catered opening reception which is scheduled for tonight, 7 - 8 p.m.

Bearfest 33 Carnival Booth Registration - Student Organizations are invited to sponsor a booth at the Bearfest 33 carnival on Saturday, Apr. 16, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Many organizations have used this opportunity to highlight their community involvement, or to fundraise. At last year’s Bearfest, over 30 organizations hosted booths. Booths are $20 per organization. ATHLETICS

Tomorrow's matchups between KU and Mansfield University from Mansfield's Decker Gym will be broadcast live on www.redzonemedia.com. Fans can tune in beginning at 5:25 p.m. to listen to both games beginning with the women’s matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The men’s game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. 

The Golden Bear women clinch a playoff spot with a victory. If the men win, they will pull into a first-place tie with Mansfield and KU will seize control in the race for the regular season PSAC East title.

The semi-annual Inspection of fire sprinkler systems in residence halls, education and general purpose buildings will be performed by Kistler-O’Brien Fire Protection the week of Feb. 21. While most work will be transparent to the building occupants, inspection personnel may be observed checking sprinkler components located in corridors, stairwells, mechanical rooms and closets. The inspectors will be in company uniform displaying the Kistler-O’Brien logo. We appreciate your cooperation during this important process to ensure proper operation of these safety systems.

Grammy Award-wining hip hop artist, author, and actor, Common will present a motivational lecture and discussion, titled, Common Ground on Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. He rose to prominence as one of hip-hop's most poetic and respected lyricists. He made his acting debut in Smokin’ Aces and since then has appeared in Street Kings, Terminator Salvation , Date Night, and more recently in Just Wright. His children’s book, I Like You But I Love Me was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Common’s presentation speaks to the human spirit, human nature, self-respect and love. The program is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available today until Mar. 1 at the MSU information desk. They will be made available to the public on Feb. 23. We strongly encourage the university community members who are interested in attending to obtain your tickets early.

Bursar Office closure notice - The Bursar Office will be closed
Friday, Feb. 25 from 8 - 10:30 a.m. for training on the new student information system, PeopleSoft.
