March is Women’s History Month - Please join us for a fun evening with the “Guerrilla Girls,” feminist masked righters-of-wrongs who use facts, humor and outrageous visuals to expose sexism, racism, and corruption in politics, art, film and pop culture. They've appeared at over 90 universities and museums in the past 16 years expressing their philosophy of activism, and their campaign against the appalling lack of ethics in the art world. See their extraordinary and unconventional program at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 2, in the MSU Multipurpose Room.

The Women’s Center presents: “First Steps Speaker Series- Landing That First Job After Graduation” - In celebration of Women’s History month, the Women’s Center is offering a series of programs aimed at connecting KU students with professionals in their desired fields. Talks are held Mar. 2, 16, 18, 22 and 30, 4:30 p.m. in the Academic Forum Lecture Hall 102. Speakers include experts from the fields of business, law, art, psychology, English and education. Students will get to ask questions and get practical tips on getting hired in today’s uncertain economic times.

Dr. C.J. Rhoads is the first speaker in the Women’s Center’s First Steps Speaker Series, Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 4:30 p.m. This coveted keynote speaker, published author and KU professor has had a varied career ranging from entrepreneurial ventures to board-level decision making at Fortune 500 companies. She shares her personal career journey in business and answers questions from students.

The KU Internship & Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, Mar 2,
 in the MSU MPR from 1 - 4 p.m. More than 55 employers are registered to attend and are seeking applicants from all majors. Students are expected to attend professionally dressed with resumes in hand. This could be where you find the job/internship you have been searching for. Black History Month art exhibit: Q&A and reception with the Artists - Come to the Rohrbach Library this Thursday, Feb. 24, from 5 - 7 p.m. to hear Sandi Turner and Ed Terrell talk about their artwork that is currently featured in the “Success From the Past” exhibit in the Voices & Choices Center in the library. Department of Speech Communication & Theatre presents the play "Fuddy Meers," a comic play by David Lindsay-Abaire, Feb. 22 – 27 at the Rickenbach Theatre, directed by KU associate professor Roxane Rix. The main character, Claire, is an amnesiac who wakes each morning as a blank slate which her husband and son must fill with the details of her life. When a strange man wants to rescue Claire from her murderous husband, the chase is on. The comic mayhem that follows is seen through the kaleidoscope of Claire's world, and culminates in revelations and reversals that prove none of us are what we appear to be. Curtain is at 8 p.m., or 2 p.m. for the final performance. Seating is limited in this intimate performance space, so get your tickets early. For more information, please call x3-4092. Bearfest 33 Carnival Booth Registration - Student Organizations are invited to sponsor a booth at the Bearfest 33 carnival on Saturday, Apr. 16, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Many organizations have used this opportunity to highlight their community involvement, or to fundraise. At last year’s Bearfest, over 30 organizations hosted booths. Booths are $20 per organization. The semi-annual Inspection of fire sprinkler systems in residence halls, education and general purpose buildings will be performed by Kistler-O’Brien Fire Protection this week. While most work will be transparent to the building occupants, inspection personnel may be observed checking sprinkler components located in corridors, stairwells, mechanical rooms and closets. The inspectors will be in company uniform displaying the Kistler-O’Brien logo. We appreciate your cooperation during this important process to ensure proper operation of these safety systems.

Grammy Award-wining hip hop artist, author, and actor, Common will present a motivational lecture and discussion, titled, Common Ground on Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. He rose to prominence as one of hip-hop's most poetic and respected lyricists. He made his acting debut in Smokin’ Aces and since then has appeared in Street Kings, Terminator Salvation , Date Night, and more recently in Just Wright. His children’s book, I Like You But I Love Me was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Common’s presentation speaks to the human spirit, human nature, self-respect and love. The program is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available today until Mar. 1 at the MSU information desk. They will be made available to the public on Feb. 23. We strongly encourage the university community members who are interested in attending to obtain your tickets early.
