KU PRIDE

Meet Martha Dry Johnson - Martha can truly be called part of the KU family. As the Athletic Department’s fiscal assistant, she has managed the department’s money, counted ticket sales and collected athletic event entry fees for more than 14 years. She grew up in the house now used as the Admissions Center under the watchful eye of her father attorney John Dry. Occasionally, Martha would escape her parents’ overview and join friends at the Kutztown Airport for a thrilling airplane ride over the campus.

“The campus was my playground,” she said. “One summer day I was riding my bike and noticed the Boehm Science Center had both the doors wide open. Who could resist! I rode straight through the building. Unfortunately, the custodian saw me and called my mother.”

With family ties to campus deeper than most, Martha said there is no place like home.

“Kutztown was a great place to grow up. I attended the lab school, swam in the Risley Hall pool and watched as the college grew to become a university.”
