KU PRIDE

Meet Theresa Vigoda - Many people may know Theresa Vigoda as the executive assistant to Dr. Charles Woodard, Vice President for Student Services & Campus Life. Others may recall that she is the sister of Nancy Postic, who recently retired as an administrative assistant in the president’s office.

But did you know Theresa is a licensed cosmetology teacher and taught in Berks County for nine years prior to beginning her career at KU?

“It was one of my childhood dreams to become a cosmetologist and that dream has been fulfilled," Theresa said. "Working in a salon was an exciting experience, and, even more gratifying to me, is having held my teacher’s license for over 30 years.”

In Dr. Woodard’s office, Theresa coordinates the administrative operations, serving as the initial contact for communication and customer service. She is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating meetings for the Secretarial Council within the division. The Vice President’s Office for Student Services and Campus Life is directly responsible for the leadership, management and oversight of 19 units within the campus community.

“I have been on the move ever since I began as a secretary for the Honors Program,” she said.

Within four months of starting with the Honors Program, her job changed to full-time adding Summer Sessions to her responsibilities—in another office – one in the Graduate Center, the other in Old Main. Theresa recalls working in eight different office locations over the past 17 years.

Throughout her KU career, Theresa enrolled in classes, at first because the subject interested her, now because she is working toward a degree.

“Working at the university has enriched my life with a variety of professional experiences and has provided a multitude of wonderful opportunities to expand my education,” she said.
