ANNOUNCEMENTS

Route 737 continues to be closed through next June.
Construction began yesterday on work to replace a structurally deficient bridge over Mill Creek. This latest project is expected to be complete in June 2012, depending on the weather. The bridge, on Rt. 737 between Kohlers Hill and Wessner roads, will be closed and traffic will continue to be detoured during construction. The posted detour will use Route 222, Route 100 and Interstate 78 - the same detour in place for work on the Route 737 bridge over Mill Creek between Kutz Mill and Eagle Point roads, which has been closed since January for replacement. The bridge, constructed in 1925, is a single-span concrete T-beam bridge 46 feet long and 25 feet wide with an average daily traffic of 6,000 vehicles. The new bridge will be a single-span concrete box beam bridge 50 feet long and 35 feet wide.

Donations are being accepted for a Diaper & Wipe Drive for the widow of
Berks County Deputy Sheriff Kyle Pagerly, who was recently killed in the line of duty. Kyle’s widow recently found out she was expecting their first child next year. Please open your hearts for a deserving member of our extended Berks County community. We will be accepting unopened cases and packs of baby diapers (all sizes) and wipes for Kyle’s unborn child. You can drop off your donation in either Student Union & Involvement Services (MSU 153) or the Career Development Office (Stratton 113). The drive will go until Friday, Jul. 22. Donations will then be dropped off at the Sheriff’s office in Reading, PA for delivery to Mrs. Pagerly. Please consider making a donation to this important cause.

Please share this with your summer students - Student Union & Involvement Services and SGB are sponsoring Fiesta Ole on Wednesday, Jul. 13 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. on the MSU Lawn.
