The Schaeffer Auditorium is scheduled for an 18-month long renovation and remodeling beginning in January 2012. This is the first major work on the auditorium since it opened in 1938. At each open house, Cassano will be sharing project details, showing renderings and floor plans, as well as taking people on a backstage tour of the facility. Working it Out! Clothing Drive Collection- The Kutztown University Women’s Center and the Career Development Center are holding a professional clothing drive, “Working it Out” in the Old Main concourse for students and faculty in need of professional work attire. This includes suits, jackets, pants, shoes, ties, shirts, sweaters, belts and accessories. All clothing donations must be clean and on a hanger. Drop-off days for the drive are Mar. 11 and 14, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., in the Old Main Concourse. Distribution begins Mar. 15 for students only, 9 a.m.- 8 p.m, Mar. 16 and 17 is for students, faculty and staff 9 a.m.- 6 p.m and Mar. 18 is for students, faculty and staff 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. all in the Old Main Concourse. In exchange for a donation of one non-perishable food item for Friend, Inc., you can get FREE donated clothing for your job, interview or career! Reminder - the deadline for early consideration for room reservations & activities scheduled for the 2011-2012 academic year is Mar. 4, at 4 p.m. The attached document will provide the necessary information for you to participate in the early registration process. Departments and organizations may submit early reservation requests for their events by using the Conference Services Room Scheduler (available on-line at http://www.kutztown.edu/admin/confserv/reserve). A reminder that any early reservation request for a student organization must be submitted by that organization’s advisor. Seeking Outstanding Student to Deliver Commencement Addresses This week on KUR's - Wednesday is our "Diversity Rest Stop" interview segment at 3:45 p.m., with smooth jazz sax player Vincent Ingala. At the tender age of 18, Ingala has done more in his young life than most smooth jazz stars could ever dream of doing in 50 years. Then on Friday, "Makin' Waves," KUR's own exclusive GLBTQ talk/music magazine show airs from 2 - 4 p.m. Attention all KU sophomores and their advisors: Through the Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC), the U.S. Army offers opportunities for KU graduates to serve their country in more than 16 career fields including aviation engineering, medical services and logistics, beginning as a 2nd Lieutenant. Starting pay is more than $40,000 with regular increases to $60,000 within four years. Additionally, the leadership skills learned as a U.S. Army officer are in high demand in the private sector following service. PASSHE Leadership Institute for Undergraduate Women - The week-long program will be held Jun. 19 -24, at the McKeever Environmental Learning Center in Sandy Lake, Pa. The institute provides a forum for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to nurture the leadership potential of women students. The application deadline is Mar. 28. They've appeared at more than 90 universities and museums in the past 16 years expressing their philosophy of activism, and their campaign against the appalling lack of ethics in the art world.
