Annette Christman The Office of the President and the Department of Social Work invite you to the 9th Annual Community Forum on Friday, March 18, featuring Designing the Social Work Enterprise: Promoting the Profession, Micro to Macro. Forum 2011 seeks to raise awareness of the need for the social work profession to strengthen its entrepreneurial spirit and skill sets and identify best practices in the area of business and management of the social work profession as well as strengthen alliances that will promote the social work enterprise. Dr. Joo Tan, chair, Nominations & Elections Construction Update: There will be a brief shut-down of the heating system in the deFrancesco Building on Wednesday, Mar. 9 starting at 7-11 a.m. in support of the chiller replacement project. While the new connections are being made, selected areas may experience slight reductions in heating levels. The Student Recreation Center will be operating under the following special hours during spring break: Mar. 7 - 11: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 12: CLOSED Sunday, Mar. 13 (regular hours resume): 1 - 11 p.m. There will be no group exercise classes beginning Mar. 4. Classes will resume Mar. 13 Tracy Turner Join the Kutztown University Foundation for their annual scholarship event, Beacon on the Hill, in Schaeffer Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 14. At the event, chaired by Martin K. Till and Tiffany Cavanaugh of the Lehigh Valley, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, socialize with guests and bid on items in the silent auction. Then at 8 p.m. enjoy a KUPresents! performance of Jami Tyzik’s Femmes Fatales, presented at Ursa Minor’s Café in the MSU MPR. Registration for this event begins today, Mar. 7, through the KU Foundation, 610-683-1394. Tickets are $150 per person. Proceeds from Beacon on the Hill help to finance the Beacon Scholarship, established to provide four-year merit scholarships to incoming freshmen based on criteria established from year-to-year by each undergraduate college dean.
