Jabali Afrika, Kenyan music and dance trio, will perform on today, Nov. 15, in MSU 183, at 7 p.m. The band's original sound is attributed to its own unique mixture and special fusion of African rhythms. Their performance include both dance and traditional East African tribal costumes. Jabali Africa’s members are not only composers, singers, instrumentalists, and percussionists but they also draw upon their shared history from the Kenya National Theatre Dance Troupe. The trio engages and has many ways of keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. Jabali Afrika's enthusiasm really inspires enthusiasm and audience participation. The event is sponsored by Association for Campus Events through SGB.

The final film for the semester in Kutztown's Pride Against Prejudice Film Series is Shelter on Wed. Nov. 16, at 6 p.m., Boehm 145. A dynamic Q & A will follow. Shelter was a hit in the independent film circuit and explores issues of familial obligations and demands vs. wrestling with the closet and personal aspirations. Indeed, it is a wonderfully naturalistic coming of age story in a world of complex demands.

Kutztown University Competitive Programming Team participated in a regional competition that is part of the International Programming Competition that takes place each year. On Saturday, Nov. 5, 257 teams competed against one another to solve the greatest number of problems in 5 hours. The team consisting of Tyler Voland, Joe Kelmer, and Brandon Trumble performed well, getting on the board with two problems and finishing in the top 100 of the teams. Many teams end up solving 0 problems so two problems puts Kutztown in a very favorable position. This is the first time since last year that we have scored on the board. And to finish in the top 100 is an achievement in itself. Congratulations to our Programming Team for a job well done.
