ANNOU
NCEMENTS

The Romantic Piano - tonight, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main - Passion, creativity, virtuosity and imagination describe the music of the three most prominent composers of the Romantic era: Schumann, Chopin and Liszt, some of whose works are to be heard on Monday night’s recital by faculty member, Maria Asteriadou, inaugurating the new Steinway concert grand piano. With compositions of unique and individual conception, the piano arrives at an apotheosis of power, expression and depth. Celebrating Franz Liszt’s 200th anniversary, the program will include Schumann’s Fantasy, dedicated to Liszt; Liszt’s transcriptions of Chopin songs, as well as his Hungarian Rhapsody no. 12; and the Chopin Ballade in g minor. The concert is free and open to the public.

This workshop will discuss the process of assessing student learning outcomes by focusing on the final step – using assessment findings for decisions about maintaining or changing the educational experiences related to a student learning goal. Decisions, however, depend on a clear understanding of the nature of the learning goal, the methods, measures, and analyses utilized in the assessment, and typical levels of student performance, among other factors. The workshop’s examination of using assessment results will be informed by specific cases of “closing the loop” at KU and other institutions. If you are planning to attend the workshop, please respond to sreed@kutztown.edu with the time you would like to attend.
