The Kappa Sigma fraternity held their annual Shave to Save event to raise money and awareness for cancer-research. Participants were able to get a quick haircut in exchange for a donation to a good cause.

The Community Outreach Center needs your help! KU hosts the Special Olympics Eastern Spring Sectional here on campus Saturday, May 5.The festivities begin at 7 a.m. and the closing ceremony is at 5 p.m. in the O'Pake Fieldhouse. This year we will be hosting almost 1,000 participating athletes and their families. In order for this event to be successful and smooth, we need to recruit about 400-500 volunteers. Volunteers are needed for Olympic Town, Awards, Security & Parking, Food, Registration/Info Table and mainly the Sporting events. There are two shifts for each activity:

• 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

We are asking for your help in recruiting volunteers, please help us spread the word by passing this message along to everyone in your department and/or classes. Volunteers do not have to be Kutztown University faculty, staff or students and we encourage everyone to get their friends and family involved. Attached is the volunteer application and insurance form that each volunteer must complete. These forms can be dropped off to the Community Outreach Center, MSU 281. The 14th Annual KU Children's Literature Conference is Apr. 20-21. Internationally known Seymour Simon and Thomas Yezerski will be presenting to the KU Community on Friday, Apr. 20 from 2-3 p.m. in the MSU. The Friday presentation is free. Books by these authors as well as Matt Phelan are on sale at the KU Bookstore for 20% discount. All authors will autograph books immediately after the afternoon presentation. See you there!

The Kutztown University Off-Campus Advisory Council (OCAC) and the KUBoK Neighborhood Watch, (Kutztown University-Borough of Kutztown) and will host an open forum on crime prevention this Tuesday, Apr. 17, 11 a.m. to noon, in AF, room 102. Students and members of the community are invited to join Kutztown Mayor, the Honorable Sandy Green, a Kutztown borough police officer, and a KU police officer to openly discuss thoughts and ideas relating to crime prevention.

The Physics Club is hosting the 6th Annual Cantalobber Contest this Sunday, Apr. 15, at the north water tower. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. HEART at KU stands for the Healing Environment Advocate Response Team and is a 24/7 response team offering on and off campus referrals, compassionate listening and confidentiality. The Annual Saucony Cross' Senior Prom hosted by the Off-Campus Advisory Council (OCAC) will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 17, 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Saucony Cross retirement home main office (next to the cliffs).
