The annual Old Main fire pump test
will be conducted today, Aug. 10,
(weather permitting) by the university’s fire protection systems maintenance
contractor. The test will require numerous fire hoses to be extended from the
pump test header in front of D-wing to the street and will result in the
discharge of a large volume of water. Public Safety officers will assist in
directing motorists around the area where water may temporarily pond during the
test. Pedestrians using the sidewalk in front of Old Main should use caution due
to the hoses crossing the walkway. This work should take approximately one hour.
