Please plan to join the KU community on Monday, August 27 at 7 p.m. in Keystone Arena for More Than a Few Good Men: American Manhood and Violence Against Women. This presentation is free and open to the public.  Speaker Dr. Jackson Katz, educator, author, filmmaker and social theorist, has long been recognized as one of America’s leading anti-sexist male activists. Known for his provocative presentation, Katz interjects irreverent humor with unpleasant reality. He stimulates dialogue between the sexes by illuminating how individual stories are linked to larger social forces.

Also, on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 9:30 a.m. in MSU 183, Alumni Auditorium, Katz will conduct a workshop.
For more information, please contact Dr. Lyn McQuaid, Chair, KU Commission on the Status of Women at mcquaid@kutztown.edu.

KU history professor Michael Gabriel's weekend presentation on Fort Ticonderoga drew attention to the story of the American defeat of a combined force of German, British and Loyalist troops in a battle fought along the New York-Vermont border 235 years ago this week. The Americans' victory set the stage for their victory over the redcoats at Saratoga two months later. The story is detailed in Dr. Gabriel's book, "The Battle of Bennington: Soldiers and Civilians." More news on the upcoming day of service!
Have unused mini shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, etc from your summer vacation? Please drop them off at the Community Outreach Center. We are now collecting items for Berks Women In Crisis and Turning Point for emergency toiletry kits for victims of domestic abuse. We need mini or smaller sized of the following items to put together kits on our Day of Service on September 1:  individual soaps, shampoo, conditioners, facial mask, nail products of any kind, make-up of any kind, toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste any size, tampons or feminine pads. They do not have to be just the “mini/travel size” – but since these are put into kits, the “mega” or “family” sized bottles are too big, so, please, avoid these. Also, new/unused only. Thank you. These can be dropped off at the Community Outreach Center, MSU 281 or contact me and we will arrange to pick them up at your office. Also, thanks for the coupons everyone is sending for our Day of Service – please keep them coming. Check your Saturday and Sunday papers the next few weekends.
