ANNOUNCEMENTS

Main Street Closure  - Please be advised, Kutztown Borough officials have notified the university that West Main Street will be closed from Baldy Street, up the hill, west to College Blvd., this Thursday, Aug. 30, 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. for maintenance on the water main.
Tom Green, director, Facilities Energy Management and Campus Utilities

Kutztown University hosts Dr. Joo Won Park, a modern composer and professor of computer music and audio technology from the Community College of Philadelphia, for a Computer Music Seminar in the Grim Planetarium on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 6-8 p.m. The event will feature an original 30 minute performance by computer science professor, Dr. Dale Parson, and his KU students as well as a 90 minute performance by Dr. Park and students from the Community College of Philadelphia. Both performances will feature video art that will be projected onto the planetarium dome. This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Park performs with toys, kitchenware, vegetables, umbrellas, and other non-musical items by digitally processing the sounds they make. He gets inspiration from listening to swamps, city noises, his young son, and other sounds that surround him. A recent composition performed with Lego blocks is on line at http://www.phillyinfocus.com/video/block-routine-2012/.

Evacuation Drills - The mandatory, semi-annual emergency evacuation drills for the academic buildings will be conducted (weather permitting) during the next two weeks. These drills are conducted within the first ten days of each semester to minimize the possibility of disrupting tests, quizzes, projects or experiments. The Office of Environmental Health and Safety and Public Safety appreciate the swift, orderly participation of all building occupants whenever the evacuation alarm is activated. A good habit to develop is to close all windows and doors upon exiting your work space or classroom, and to stand clear of the exits and roadways to facilitate smoother egress and emergency responder access that may be necessary. To review the building evacuation procedures please click
here and go to page 3.
