The Kutztown University men’s rugby team advanced to the semi-finals at the Men’s CRC Qualifier 7s/Las Vegas Invitational Tournament this past weekend.  After decisive victories over Creighton and Claremont on Thursday, KU opened Friday’s pool play with a 38-7 win over Missouri.  The Golden Bears then advanced to the quarterfinals of pool play where they defeated Buffalo, 31-0, and Miami (OH) 17-7.   The two quarterfinal victories allowed KU to advance to the tournament semi-finals on Saturday, where the injury-plagued Golden Bears fell to eventual champion Life, 25-7.   The KU men’s rugby team will now prepare for its spring conference schedule, which begins in March.  For more information visit, http://www.kutztownrugby.com/

The Finance Club will be meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in deFran 201. KU alumnus Zach Phipps, a security and portfolio analyst at SEI Investments, will discuss his work as a municipal and corporate bond analyst, as well as his thoughts about recent developments in the investment industry.

There is a great new show in the Student Union Art Gallery featuring sculptures by Lauren Smucker. "A Study of Natural Forms" will be on display from now until Feb. 22 with a catered opening reception on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6-7 p.m. Please stop by and see her work and encourage your friends to as well. SENIOR CLASS COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER - Application Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 29
Applications will be accepted from graduating seniors cleared to walk at the spring 2012 Commencement ceremony. In order to be considered for this distinction, a candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
-have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 entering the spring 2012 semester,
-demonstrate service to the university community and demonstrate a record of good university citizenship and cooperation (Presence of these qualities shall be demonstrated in the application process and letters of recommendation.),
-demonstrate evidence of meaningful co-curricular involvement, and
-be in good disciplinary standing.

The KU Information Channel (KUIC) can now be seen on Service Electric Cable television channel 266 in the Lehigh Valley. KUIC features the KU message board, select KUTV programming, and audio from KUR, the campus radio station. KUIC can also be seen on channel 24 on Service Electric Cablevision in Kutztown and eastern Berks County, and on Hometown Utilicom channel 28 in the borough of Kutztown. Be sure to tune in to keep in touch with KU!
