A big thank you to all faculty and staff members who completed recommendations for the 2011-2012 Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities program at Kutztown. We received 147 applications, which is five times the amount we received last year! Honored students were selected based on their academic achievement at KU, leadership experience, involvement on campus, and service to the community. A recognition ceremony will take place at the end of April honoring our winners. BodyPump Express will be held over spring break at the Student Recreation Center today and Wednesday, Mar. 14 from 12:15-12:45 p.m.
The Second Computer Music Seminar/Concert to take place in Grim Planetarium is tomorrow, Mar. 20, 7-9 p.m., hosted by Dr. Dale Parson of Computer Science and Dr. Phillip Reed of Physical Sciences. The guest performer is Mark Jenkins of the UK, who will perform an electronic composition entitled “Supernova” designed with video accompaniment for performance in a planetarium. Mr. Jenkins will give a talk on migrating from a stage full of hardware synthesizers to performing on iPads, and then give a demonstration/performance using several iPads. Finally, Dr. Parson and students will play a new music-generating game that emulates the expanding universe on the planetarium dome. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen www.rbcrafts.org will hold its 10th Annual Juried Spring Fine Arts and Craft Festival in Keystone Hall on Saturday, Mar. 24 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Sunday, Mar. 25,  (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.). The highly popular Mid-Atlantic craft show is presented in partnership with the Pennsylvania German Scholarship Studies, the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center in Kutztown and the university, whose art students also will exhibit their work at the show.
