
Kutztown University’s philosophy professor, Dr.
John Lizza, delivers the Chambliss Faculty Lecture on "Defining
the End of Life" this afternoon, May 2 at 4:30 p.m. in MSU 183. Dr. Lizza’s
lecture, “Defining the End of Life,” examines the current debate over whether
“brain death” is death and whether individuals in persistent vegetative state
should be counted among the living “we.” Advances in medical technology have
posed many ethical and social problems, but perhaps none more fundamental and

will perform works from Buddy Rich and Gordon Goodwin, followed by Jazz Ensemble
I. Jazz Ensemble I will present modern works for Jazz Orchestra. This eclectic
concert will present works written for jazz orchestra by composers from around

Open Enrollment Period for PASSHE Health Benefits (not for AFSCME or SCUPA) is April 30 through May 11, 2012. Open Enrollment Newsletters were emailed directly to applicable employees from the Harrisburg Central Office on April 27, 2012. Open Enrollment is your opportunity to enroll in a health plan; waive your plan coverage; change health plans or add or remove covered dependents. The Open Enrollment Newsletter emailed to you should be reviewed for new employee premium contributions; change in the retail pharmacy network and other important benefit information and disclosure to be effective July 1, 2012. Open Enrollment changes will need to be made using the Employee Self Service (ESS) System beginning April 30, 2012, and must be entered prior to the deadline of May 11, 2012. The Promise of a Post Racial America - The Frederick Douglass Institute Diversity Peer Educators will hold its final workshop of the semester on Thursday May 3, at 5 p.m. in OM. This week’s discussion will center on the relevance of race in America today and the concept of a post racial tomorrow. Pizza and drinks will be provided. The Diversity Peer Educators are a student to student multicultural awareness program that aims to encourage an inclusive and caring campus climate, and promote an atmosphere for open and respectful dialogue.
Lost and Found: If you lost something on campus this semester, please drop-by Public Safety to see if it was turned in. We receive "lost and found" items frequently from different campus locations. Even if you have checked on something earlier in the semester, please check again! It’s possible an item you checked-on before may now be in our Lost and Found inventory. Then come to see the baskets displayed on-campus in the MSU, May 3 and off-campus at the Community Block Party on May 6 to enter for your chance to win! Anyone can participate - staff, faculty, departments, students, clubs and organizations. Do it individually or as a group. Be as creative as you like and as non-traditional as you want it to be. You can base it around a theme, a hobby, sporting team, or anything that comes to mind. The deadline to submit baskets is May 1. Alta Hart, KU KREW advisor, Athletics Kutztown University and the Borough of Kutztown are pleased to announce an open application process for two Student Ambassador non-voting positions within the Borough Council of the Borough of Kutztown. The positions begin Sept. 1, 2012, and run for the academic year. Although the positions are open to any full time Kutztown University student, Political Science and Public Administration majors may be able to earn course credit toward their degree programs. Requirements, position descriptions, and an application form can be reviewed at http://www.kutztown.edu/divisions/studentservices/departments/communityrelations/commengage/Ambassador.aspx.
