Spring Preview – Sunday, May 6 - The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is hosting Spring Preview on Sunday, May 6, from 1 - 4 p.m. in the MSU. This is an event for prospective high school sophomores, juniors and transfer students seeking admission for Spring 2013 and beyond. Please join us in welcoming more than 700 visitors on this day.

Kutztown University Off-Campus Advisory Council (OCAC) and Kutztown Community Partnership (KCP) hosts the "Keepin' it Kutztown" Annual Community Block Party on Sunday, May 6, noon to 4 p.m. on the 100 - 200 blocks of Main St. in Kutztown. Come out for live entertainment, free food, arts and crafts, and activities from a rock wall to a moon bounce. OCAC and KCP are looking for student volunteers as well as organizations and companies to purchase a table to promote at the event. Summer Hours – As in past years, the university begins summer hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a half-hour lunch, beginning May 14, the Monday following commencement. These hours remain through Friday, August 24. (Anyone who has a need to maintain the normal winter hours may submit a request through their supervisory line. Approval for such a request will be at the vice presidential level.) Enjoy summer!

On Tuesday, May 1, the Department of Communication Studies and Theatre
inducted the following students into the local chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Honors Society for Communications majors:  Margaret Brownell, Rachel Bryan (President of Xi Kappa, our local chapter), Chelsea DiFebbo, Alexis Murphy, Teresa Nutter, Christina Savino, and Jennifer Balinski. It was a joyous event and we in the Department are thrilled to have been able to serve such terrific scholars. The event was held at a local watering spot - T.C's - where we welcomed parents, boyfriends, faculty and other Lambda Pi Eta students graduating next year. NCAA Division II Softball Regionals at Kutztown University - KU has been selected to host the Atlantic 1 Regional tournament. There will be three teams arriving today for a practice day, then games begin tomorrow for the three-day tournament (May 4-6). Game times and ticket prices are listed below.*Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Kutztown campus during business hours in Keystone Hall 105A and at the field.

Open Enrollment Period for PASSHE Health Benefits (not for AFSCME or SCUPA) is April 30 through May 11, 2012. Open Enrollment Newsletters were emailed directly to applicable employees from the Harrisburg Central Office on April 27, 2012. Open Enrollment is your opportunity to enroll in a health plan; waive your plan coverage; change health plans or add or remove covered dependents. The Open Enrollment Newsletter emailed to you should be reviewed for new employee premium contributions; change in the retail pharmacy network and other important benefit information and disclosure to be effective July 1, 2012. Open Enrollment changes will need to be made using the Employee Self Service (ESS) System beginning April 30, 2012, and must be entered prior to the deadline of May 11, 2012. All changes will be effective for the Plan Year beginning July 1, 2012.

The Promise of a Post Racial America - The Frederick Douglass Institute Diversity Peer Educators will hold its final workshop of the semester on Thursday May 3, at 5 p.m. in OM. This week’s discussion will center on the relevance of race in America today and the concept of a post racial tomorrow. Pizza and drinks will be provided. The Diversity Peer Educators are a student to student multicultural awareness program that aims to encourage an inclusive and caring campus climate, and promote an atmosphere for open and respectful dialogue.
