The KU Division of Advancement has been renamed the Division of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs effective immediately. With the recent separation of fundraising from the division, the name better reflects the unit’s day-to-day activities. Under the leadership of John Green, associate vice president, offices in the division include: University Relations (communications, media relations, web content and technology and sports information), University Marketing, Intercollegiate Athletics, Sports Medicine, Conference Services, KU Presents!, Video Services, and the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. The KU Foundation continues to be responsible for development and alumni engagement. You will see the name change reflected in various publications and media as we move forward.

College of Visual and Performing Arts Faculty First Thursday -  On Thursday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. in Sharadin Art Building 120 Denise Bosler, associate professor of Communication Design, will present her new book, "Mastering, Mastering Type: The Essential Guide to Typography for Print and Web Design" and introduce you to typography’s everyday relationship with the world around us. Almost everything we look at includes information that needs to be communicated. At the heart of all of that communication is type: visual interesting, interactive, expressive and captivating.

Student Trustee nominations
: Nominate those students who could best serve the university as its Student Trustee. Below you will find the list of basic qualifications and requirements which will serve as the criteria for the selection process. Please note that candidates must be full-time, undergraduate student, with 32 or more credits completed by the beginning of the Fall 2013 semester and be able to serve on the council for two academic years. The nomination deadline is quickly approaching, though. Nominations must be submitted in writing and must include the student's name, address and local telephone number. We will immediately contact students nominated for the position. We would appreciate receiving your information as quickly as possible to give the nominee sufficient time to complete the application process, which has a deadline of Jan. 7, 2013.

The Kutztown University men’s rugby team will participate in the 2012 USA Rugby National Championships today and tomorrow in College Station, TX. The Golden Bears, one of 24 teams to qualify in the country, participated in the inaugural tournament last year, advancing to the semi-finals. The Golden Bears will play the other three teams from their bracket on Friday. Game times are as follows:

11:20 a.m. EST - Kutztown vs. Virginia
3 p.m. EST – Kutztown vs. Texas
6:20 p.m. EST – Kutztown vs. Central Washington

Teams will be seeded based on their performance for Saturday’s action, which begins at 9 a.m. EST. Fans can follow all of the action at
www.usarugby.org by clicking on the College Sevens category in the left-hand column. The site includes video webcasts of select games, as well and the tournament schedule and more. The Snowman presented by KU Presents! is today and tomorrow, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. This family-favorite holiday tradition will be presented at the Miller Center in downtown Reading. Based on the classic children’s book by Raymond Briggs, The Snowman film features the Kutztown University Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Will Rapp, playing the score, and bringing this beautifully drawn film to life with Dr. Kevin Kjos leading the KU Jazz Ensemble I, in the 3rd annual season special. KU Department of Music presents Chamber Singers with Dr. Dennis Williams, director on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room. Come and enjoy KU’s most select vocal ensemble singing Christmas songs, folk tunes, spirituals and madrigals throughout the ages!


As the end of the fall semester approaches, do you find your dorm or apartment filled with left over boxes of cereal? Art supplies? Packs of Ramen Noodles? Don't throw that out! During the week of final exams - Dec. 10-14 - the Women's Center Oasis at OM3, and the residence halls will have donation boxes set-up where you can donate non-perishable food items, household goods, linens, art supplies, toys, feminine products and new or used clothing.
