KU Golden Bear football vs. Shippensburg at University Field, Saturday, 1:05 p.m.! The football game will be broadcast live beginning at 1 p.m. on KUTV Ch. 24, Service Electric Lehigh Valley 266 and live-streaming at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ku-live. The game will also be live on WEEU 830AM.

Today, Oct. 11, is National Coming Out Day – Student group Allies hosts a daylong event of activities, workshops, and informational displays honoring the “coming out” process and recognizing the importance of being an ally in MSU 218 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information on National Coming Out Day visit the

The Kutztown University Honorary Degree Committee is currently seeking nominations of distinguished individuals for the award. Honorary Degrees are granted to men and women who have made outstanding contributions to the welfare and improvement of their community, region, Kutztown University, the state of Pennsylvania, the United States, or to humanity at large. Calling All Artists! The Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen (in Partnership with the Pennsylvania German Scholarship Studies, the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center and Kutztown University) invites KU Students to participate in the 63rd Annual Holiday Fine Arts & Craft Festival Nov. 10-11 at KU’s Keystone Field House. Guest Artist – Marius Watz is an artist who uses visual programming techniques to create generative digital and traditional artwork. His work spans from interactive music visualizations, to 3D printing, to light installations, and everything in between. His lecture will introduce his work, his process, and the workshop will be a hands-on seminar covering visual programming techniques using the Processing language. The lecture is on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in Sharadin120. There is also a hands-on workshop on Friday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m.


This week's MSU Movie Series film is "Brave" which will be shown in the MSU Alumni Auditorium on Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 and 8 p.m. Admission is free! Check out the MSU movie website for more information.

Financial Aid Services welcomes two new team members to our office. Sarah Koenig, a 2012 KU business graduate, has been working for us, but now is a permanent employee in our office on our front line welcoming visitors to our office. Also, joining us is Denise Bucks, who comes to us from a temporary assignment on campus. She joins Sarah on the front line as well. We are excited to have both of these ladies become a part of team.

The next University Curriculum Committee (UCC) meeting will be held on Oct. 25. The deadline for submission of all proposals for this meeting is noon tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 11. SnapShot PA Day at Rohrbach - SnapShot PA Day is a statewide effort to capture the value of Pennsylvania’s libraries. Join us from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 to record a brief video telling us how you use the Rohrbach Library’s resources and services. Our library will participate by submitting videos, photos, and statistics to the SnapShot PA website. Our videos also will be uploaded to YouTube. (There will be a paper survey for those not wanting to be videotaped.) Our 2009 SnapShot PA videos are available at:

Thursday, Oct. 11, is LRC Day in the Language Resource Center (DF 107/109) - Students can attend events throughout the day and compete to win prizes, meet other students interested in the study of language and culture and even collect stamps in passports to earn extra credit points for select language courses. Senior Class Undergraduate Commencement Speaker - Application Deadline: Wednesday, Oct. 17 - Applications will be accepted from graduating seniors cleared to walk at the fall 2012 Commencement ceremony. In order to be considered for this distinction, a candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

-have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 entering the fall 2012 semester,
-demonstrate service to the university community and demonstrate a record of good university citizenship and cooperation (Presence of these qualities shall be demonstrated in the application process and letters of recommendation.),
-demonstrate evidence of meaningful co-curricular involvement, and
-be in good disciplinary standing.

In addition, each candidate must submit a completed application available at: http://www2.kutztown.edu/events/commencement/for-students/student-commencement-speakers.htm. Finalists will be chosen to participate in an interview process to determine the candidate of choice who will be expected to provide a brief address (approximately 3-5 minutes) at the fall 2012 Commencement ceremony.
