This year the annual “Halloween Happenings” will include the Sleepy Hollow petting zoo- 2:30-6:30 p.m. (DMZ), Halloween activities at Frank’s Fun House (Rothermel Hall) and the Pumpkin Patch (Old Main Concourse) from 3-7 p.m. and Trick or Treating from 4-6 p.m. (Old Main). New this year- we are including a book drive and art supplies donation for local agencies. Christine B. Adam, benefits manager, HR There were 15 lucky winners who received the most expensive item on their transaction for FREE in the KU Student Bookstore during a Back-to-School promotion that ran from August 25 – 29. The Bookstore gave away nearly $1,500 in textbooks and course supplies. These funds are made available from surplus in our Emergency Textbook Fund which we build by selling unusable or donated books online. If you know of a student who loses their books due to fire, flood or other severe circumstances, please be sure to direct them to the KU Student Bookstore, where we have a fund established to help replace their books. KU Student Bookstore Retirement Counseling Sessions coming up: VALIC will be on campus 09/20 and 10/18 TIAA-CREF will be on campus 09/27 and 10/25 Great West; deferred compensation counselor will be on campus 10/11 Fidelity will be on campus 10/12. Adam, benefits manager, HR CET will be sponsoring a workshop from 11 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, Sept. 25, in OM297 titled Introduction to SPSS and presented by Dr. Anita Meehan. Topic description: This hands-on workshop is meant for those with little to no previous experience with SPSS. Basic data entry and data structure functions, steps for running an analysis, and viewing output will be practiced using SPSS on PCs. Carole Wells, vice provost and dean, Graduate Studies The GLBTQ Resource Center invites you to attend a screening of the 2012 GLADD Outstanding Film Award Winner “Pariah”, on Monday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. in the Alumni Auditorium, MSU183.
